Skin fold issues

Patty,

I have sweat problems in all the skin folds, but especially under the breasts , under my belly and in the folds of my groin area. I found a product called Neat 3B Action Cream. It is an antiperspirant cream in a small jar. A little goes a long way. I got mine out of a Dr. Leonard's Catalog, but you can also try www.neatfeat.co.nz.

I've had some boil-like pimples under my breasts, (this is gross)and if yours are like mine, if you squeeze them, you get white puss then blood, and it takes forever to heal. The 3B cream helps prevent, but if I get a boil-pimple, I squeeze it, apply witch hazel, and then neosporin cream (not salve!!). It usually helps clear them up.

I have various areas where yeast develops- in all the above mentioned places, plus behind my knees and sometimes under my arms. I have tried the Rx Nystatin Powder but it was hard for me to apply due to limited reach, and the bottle is very tiny. The best thing I have found for flaky, itchy, red, or slimy raw spots is Rx Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream USP.
My GYN doc gave it to me after taking a look under my belly, etc.
It helps get rid of the yeasty areas, and also helps with the itch and the soreness. You can use it twice a day.

All the other suggestions you made are good ones too. I use the hair-dryer method to get completely dry. I also wear only cotton panties with covered elastics, JMS ones are good. Also changing your towel and washcloth everyday is a must. For washing I use unscented Dove and I have a long handled sponge and make sure I get every spot washed and RINSED well. I do use just a sprinkle of cornstarch baby powders in my panties a couple of times a day, and if they get moist, I change them.

For knees, elbows and other rough body areas, I use a gentle exfoliating masque from Mary Kay, and then I use Am-Lactin Cream. It was recommended by my dermatologist. You can get it OTC.

I hope this helps some. The Rx Cream is really a lifesaver, it takes the burning itching soreness away quickly and heals well.
I know what you mean about having to use so many products for skin care, but it is what it is.
Take care,
jen m.

Oh yes. All my life I have had very sensitive skin. And being overweight my entire life - I have had to fight this same situation. I am finally at a place in my life where these issues are rarely problematic for me. HOWEVER, about 8 years ago I went through a phase when I had to actually take two days off from work I was in such pain from the infections. It was absolute misery and I will never forget it. Since then I have used the same method and it has worked. And by "method" I mean this: I use Dove soap in the shower and wash really well; when I get out I blow dry in between folds (TMI, I know) and then I put Desitin on and it works. I had a small rash in my panni area a few years ago and I just so happened to be going to the gynocologist that week so I mentioned it to him (embarrassing, but he's seen more than just rashes I'm sure) and he gave me an Rx for Oxistat. That stuff works like a charm. I think it was $40 even with my insurance, but it lasts a long time and it's so worth it. Cleared everything up perfectly.

As it turns out, I've almost lost 100lbs since my surgery and this part of The Fat Life (no pun intended, just what I like to call it), isn't as traumatic for me anymore. It's easier to clean, reach, keep clean and I don't sweat as much. So, it's nice to add that to my list of "wows" post-op.

My advice would be to get in a daily regiment of some kind - something you keep on in between the folds daily. Your body will adapt and will stop being bothersome. This isn't something you can "hit-and-miss"; I found that out the hard way. You have to constantly fight it, but as a result it does get better. And don't worry - we've all been there. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I have found over the years that bath and body works products are not good. The hops feed the yeast...Also cornstarch and powder rarely works if it is a yeast type rash....

I use clotriminizole cream, it is the only one that works for me...within days of a flare it is back under control and walmart sells it for like 5 buck a tube....I have tried statins, monistat and several others to no avail. I do use gold bond or ammens powder on humid days if there is no flare up of ra**** is miserable if the flare is there burns like a mother...

I am diabetic and this is how my body reacts, when my sugar is under good control, I tend to have less problems in my folds, not no problems but less....

I ran into problems with deoderants making my skin thin and making it tear...it is harsh on sensitive skin...I use dial soap without any problems and dry very good in the folds no specific method...

good luck with getting your skin under control...
