I know what your going through with the smelly gunk under the belly. After my shower and drying with the towel, I let my oscillating fan in my bedroom to dry all the way. Then I apply the Walmart brand of Gold Bond powder. This stuff works really good. Usually by the next day the problem is gone, that's if you catch it right away. Hope this helps you.

I've been taking the low tech road and lying back on my bed and flapping my hands to create a drying breeze. You guys are so much smarter than I am - fans and blow dryers. Doh. Why didn't I think of that.

I use a product by Monastat that really works well for me. It comes in a tube and it is a gel powder.  It is kind of pricey, but for me it has been well worth it.  I put it on after my morning shower and it lasts all day.

Jeanne also suggested Monastat. I don't care about the price if it works!

I'm off to the pool and will also swing by Walgreens with a new shopping list in hand. I'm embarassed to admit how many creams, salves and lotions I already keep in a plastic bin next to my bed. Starting to get like my own skin care aisle. Between the skin fold stuff, my caloused and cracked feet and dry skin on my shins, getting dressed is quite the production.

Thanks everyone!

My nurse noticed I had a rash where my underwear waistband hit my skin when I was recovering from a complication.  She called my Doc and she prescribed a powder that cleared it up in 3 days.  I use this stuff everywhere now.  Underboob, undergut, behind my knees bc/ of the whole "shar pei legs" thing I got goin' on (lol).

Wonderful product!  Silky smooth (no chunks) and non smelly.  A little goes a long way & dires you out ALL day.  I love this stuff!

I very rarely have problems, but once in a while in a hot summer I'll get a bra rash. I've also had one or two large boils develop on my panni over the years. I don't know if my bathing ritual helps prevent some of the skin issues or if I'm just lucky, but this is what I do.

Twice a week or so I use original head and shoulders in place of soap. I either soak in it in the bath or use it as a body wash, but I usually make sure its in contact with my skin for a couple of minutes. I started it for itchy leg insect bites from hiking, but I stuck to it because it cleared up a myriad of skin issues. It is drying though, so I limit myself to twice a week. The rest of the time I use unscented products mostly, and usually the ones for dry skin. I am currently using Eucerin shower oil. It smells tremendously bad (like omega-3, flax seed or castor oil kind of smell), but it seems to keeping the skin in good shape. I was hoping it would help with dry skin and it hasn't yet but I've not used it for long. Since many of my skin problems are related to fragrances or other added ingredients, I look for simple products. Have you tried castile soap? The liquid castile soap worked ok for me. I've also used cetaphil on my body. It seems like the gentlest cleaners keep my skin in the best shape.

I always dry thoroughly, I don't use any powders or anything. I've NEVER had luck with powders. In the summer I put an alcohol-based body spray under my boobs and in my waist skin folds. It stings if its already irritated, but if I start before it gets irritated I completely avoid sweaty boob rash all summer. Its very humid here so its important to get completely dry. I usually lay in front of our bedroom fan for a few minutes after I use a towel to dry off.

I suggest if you are having any kind of thing that looks infected to see a doc now and get it documented. You might need antifungal cream like monistat or even athletes foot cream. The doc also can prescribe things that work faster for fungal infections. Work on getting everything healed up totally, whatever product you have to use. Once its healed up, try to use the gentlest purest products you can find. Your skin is supposed to be a barrier to moisture and infection and so if you are really rough with it you aren't helping its cause. Treat it delicately.

My mom also likes the unscented deodorant thing. I haven't tried it. The body spray works so well for me on the upper skin folds, and I usually don't have problems with the lower ones unless something chafes. I have problems with pants if the inner seam sticks up sometimes, so I try to buy them with flat seams if possible.

I hope one or more of the many suggestions people have listed here helps you!

Someone recommended a runner's product to me for chafing.  She's normal sized and is trying to get me to run with her and I was explaining how my very heavy thighs and the loose skin very rough on me because it's so heavy and it has a mind of its own.

She misunderstood and thought I was talking about chafing. issues.  But you can find it at running shoe specialty stores and it's called body glide.  It goes on like a stick deoderant and I believe it's unscented and runners use it to prevent chafing.  She said she alse uses it under her breasts as well.

Although I haven't had my surgery yet, I have a huge overhang leftover from 140 pounds I lost in 2000-2002. I get '*****ly heat' under my overhang and breasts pretty regularly.

I've found a face wash called 'Thoroughly Clean Face Wash' by Desert Essence really helps out. It has tea tree oil and awapuhi in it. I originally bought it when I was having some breakout issues on my face, but it was too much for the sensitive skin on my face. A couple weeks later I had *****ly heat and I was desperate for something to knock it out -- so I thought WTH? Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic. It really helps to cool the fire. You may have to go to a crunchy granola-type food store to buy it.

My mother gets really bad *****ly heat under her G cup-size breasts. Her doctor recommended athlete's foot cream. Evidently, it's the same bacteria. That works real well for her.

Good luck.
