Latest Mom News

Mom is slowly getting better each and every day. Today she made a couple laps around the hospital floor with me. Her Dr came in just as we were headed back to her room and he was very pleased to see her up and walking. I was pleased to see him since it was only 7:20AM.

The DR had told both my brother and me after surgery last Friday that the tumor had come out very easily, but that was the good news. The bad news was her lymph nodes looked very abnormal and he suspected  that the cancer had already spread. We decided until we knew the results for sure not to share this news with Mom or anyone, we need her to worry about healing, not cancer.

The pathology reports came back today and confirmed what the DR suspected, the cancer has spread to her lymph modes. He thinks it's at least stage 3. He broke the news to Mom this morning. She seems to be handling it well. She might get to come home as early as tomorrow.

We'll soon have a referral to the Oncologist to get more info about treatment. Her surgeon told us that they won't start any treatment until she's fully healed from this surgery.

Please keep those good thoughts and prayers coming, looks as thought we might have some tough days ahead, but we can handle it!

I'm glad your Mom is up and moving around, and doing better.  Also glad that you were able to see her doctor this morning - it's sometimes hard to manage to be there at the same time as the docs are doing their rounds.

Please let us know after you talk to the oncologist and learn what the next steps will be.  In the meantime, we'll keep the positive thoughts and prayers headed up and out to you and your Mom.

Jan I'm sorry to hear the bad news. My thoughts are with you and your mom and the rest of the family. Cancer is something I wish didn't exist. Your mom sounds like she's a fighter, and that's good.

Have thought about you and your Mom often.  Thanks for the update.  She will need some time to "digest' this latest news and then hopefully be ready for whatever the Oncologist suggests.  Will keep praying for you all.

Jan you are right....one day at a time is the best way to do it.  It is a fight and can be overwhelming.  If you approach your mom's health the way you have your own she is in good hands.
