Getting Ready to Drop Kick My Neighbor!

My next door neighbor is a nice guy and has often been there for me when I needed help (particularly when I was homebound).  He's a retired contractor, and we often dogsit his cattle dog.  He considers me a buddy, and I'd agree.  It's nice to have a pal next door, especially since my sister works long hours.

A couple of days ago, he asked if I could take him to the light rail on Wed (today) because he's meeting his wife downtown (she still works)  for the Rockies game.  He said, 10:30 or so.  Sure, no problem.

In the last two days, the time has been pushed back from 10:30 to 11 to 11:30 and this morning he called and said he wants to catch the 12:20 train and thus we could leave around 11:45 or so.

Meanwhile, here I sit, waiting to start my day.  GRR!

I see now why they never leave on time when they take road trips out of town.  Their last trip to Durango, they were still packing the car at noon.  My sister and I laughed at that because we both like to leave very early and arrive at our destination as early in the day as possible.  When my sister saw they hadn't left yet, she laughed and said, "We'd have been in Durango eating lunch by now and there they are, still in the driveway."

I guess this sets me off more than it should mostly because my sister in Arizona is just like this.  If she says we are leaving at noon, plan on noon two days from now.  I hate it!  I'm one of those people who goes to the airport on Tuesday if my flight leaves on Wed.

Thanks for listening!  I love this forum!  Instead of stabbing him repeatedly with a pitchfork, I can just vent here and thus avoid a long jail term.

I say stab him as he gets out of your car!

I too love to be early and leave early to get to places, it would be driving me crazy too!

I know what you mean, I am always early, and it is sooo hard with my husbands family.
They invite you over for a BBQ at 3:00, you get there and they are still cleaning house, taking showers etc. There me and my husband si****ching tv with their kids, usually cartoons..
even the other guest are smart enough to arrive at 4 or even 5. This past weekend we were invited over, and I made myself be 20 minutes late... it almost killed me, but we were still the first to arrive. We joke because my husband is Mexican, and he says its a Mexican thing.
So just remember you are doing him a favor, and thats a very nice thing.

Glad you were able to vent.

Ugh, that would really frustrate me too!  How are you supposed to plan the rest of your day if he continually changes his mind???  Next time (assuming there is a next time), make some specific plans for yourself that require him to stick to his original request, tell him about your plans, and tell him your happy to help, but you have to be [wherever] by [whenever], so you can only take him if [establish specific time/place/type of help].

If that fails, let me know and I'll send you my spare pitchfork and we'll take up a collection for bail money and a good defense attorney...

Venting is good! People like that drive me crazy too (although I don't have far to go).

I can definitely relate.  I am much more a morning person and like to get my day started early.  This would drive me up a wall!!!

My 22 year old son is just the opposite and more of a night owl and it would be him not wanting to leave until after noon.

Now when we are going to go somewhere together I tell a little white lie and tell him to be ready 30 to 45 minutes before I actually plan on leaving just so that he will be ready.

It takes all types to make the world go around - I just happen to like our kind better!  LOL

Being late drives me nuts too!!!

At the company I currently work at, meetings never start on time!!! And it is one of my biggest pet peeves. I get irritated with myself because I find myself not being "ready" on time for the meetings or thinking it is okay if I am a few minutes late.
