Hey! The gym is open
I forgot Kix said she was going to be out of town this week and for someone to post for her. I thought our early-riser karen was going to do it just 'cause she's always the first to reply.
I had a lackluster weekend considering it was my 21st wedding anniversary. We went to dinner at Carrabba's Friday night and sat at the pizza bar. There was a guy there and he and my husband started a long, lengthy conversation about politics. BORING! I'll participate for about 5 minutes, but how many times can you encourage each other on your choice for president?
Saturday afternoon, we went to a wedding. Yawn! I was looking forward to the reception and I expected a fun party. It was really quite boring as well. We left and walked around our historic downtown for a little while and took some pictures in Seville Square. I've got my 10 month surgiversary pictures to post later.
Sunday, I made the greatest roasted chicken, acorn squash with splenda brown sugar and quinoa (first time having this). The quinoa was really good even though I only ate a tablespoon of it.
For my workout today, I decided to change things around a bit because I am doing a breast cancer walk in October and then a 5K in December. I got to build up that stamina to get through these events. I did 40 minutes on the hill program and got 3 miles done. Then I did a quick 20 minute upper body strength training focusing on shoulders and chest.
I'm hoping the upping of the cardio will help with the weight gain. I'm pretty confident it attributed to my stopping taking the water pills, but just in case.
What did you do to move to lose today.

Kathy - happy belated anniversary, was yours the 6th? that was our (17 years), we actually went away to WV without our daughter (last time was 7 years ago). wow, a 5k, one day i'll get there! I had insomnia, so i got up at 4:45 and went to the gym (opens at 5am), i did 1/2 hour cardio (elliptical, weight loss intervals) and then 2 circuits of weights. I'm trying to up my gym attendance to 4-5 times per week, so far so good! Keep up the good work! lys

mmm quinoa, I was just thinking about making it again the other day. I was going to try something with fruit and pinenuts and fresh herbs.
I haven't been going to the gym but my schedule is starting to calm down so hopefully I'll get back to it. In the meantime I've been very active, trekking across campus back and forth many times per day, taking the stairs, and carrying a heavy backpack.

I cook it according to whatever the container says. I like it well-done though, with less of a bite. It can be kind of crunchy sometimes.
Went to the pool after work. That's been a challenge for me, as by the time I get home, I don't want to go back out. I tried to distract myself from getting too comfy by a quick stop at the house to change and back out the door. A little too fast...
I was super busy at work again and didn't get all my meals in. I should have taken the time to have a shake or bar before I swam, but I didn't. I've also been trying to take my antidepressant at 12 hour intervals - skipped that too.
By the time I walked back in to door, I was famished - and there were good smells coming from the kitchen. DH cooked himself dinner. Himself only, Said his blood sugar was low and he didn't know when I'd be back.
I was so off kilter from lack of food and meds that I broke out sobbing. I felt so unloved and uncared for. He made me a shake while I sobbed. After I started feeling better, I made myself dinner - scrambled egg beaters with a little browned ground turkey, sauted onions and red peppers. And a cut up mozarella stick. I sit down to eat and promptly dump my plate on the floor. My fault, but I lost it - totally over the edge. Screaming, shouting, bawling. Not pretty.
Welcome to Monday.
Oh, I swam 40 lengths - 1/2 mile + 4 extra.
