I called everyday and asked for the progress on my authorization.  It is your right to know what is going on.  Keep calling.

I was waiting for my answer on my surgery choice.  The duodenal switch.  Hopefully you have researched all of your surgery options.

It is their job to tell you...ignore them being angry and just get your answer!

I have a son who just turned 5...I want to live again too, but I wanted to give myself the best surgery option available.  THis was the DS.  You will lose the weight slightly slower, but you have a much better chance of keeping the weight off long term.  Check out duodenalswitch.com

It is better to make the decision the first time, so you do not have a revision later.  I just want you to research all of your options.....most people do not.  There are more options available to you, and it just so happens there is a better option for people with a BMI over 50.  Just check it out.  I will not flame you for making an informed decision.
