okay, I had my four week follow up last Friday, I'm down 30 lbs. Yay. My doctor also gave me more food choices like tuna, chicken etc. She said try to get off the protein drinks.  My problem is anytime I try to eat almost anything I only get a couple of bites down and I feel full. I am trying to chew, chew, chew.  I am trying to eat slower, I don't think I'm always successful at that. I do stop drinking about 15 minutes before I eat then I wait 10 to 15 minutes to drink some water after, I've even waited as long as 30 mins.and I get the most uncomfortable full, cramping feeling.  Why is that??  It happens anytime I eat solid food. I really only want to drink protein. Is that bad for me?
How am I supposed to get 60 grams of protein if I can only eat an ounce or, maybe, two at a time?  I feel like I would have to eat non-stop all day long.  When I do eat I can easily go three hours or more with out even thinking of food. Also, I am finding my supplements, I take three multi's throughout the day, at least 3 benefibers, two prevacid, two to three cacium and b-12 dot,  fill me up, so I'm not hungry.

I would appreciate any help/advice anyone would like to share.  I'm really not to keen on losing any hair! Help!

First of all on the protein drinks every doc is different. Some docs don't want people on them at all, my doc wants me to have 2 per day until I reach goal. Ask her what her logic is.

Second, it gets easier I SWEAR. I know it feels like you'll never be able to get it all in - food, water, supplements. Have you tried non-fat cottage cheese. It might be easier than dense protein for a few more weeks. Rotisserie dark meat chicken was the first dense meat I could handle. Your tummy will adapt and you will be able to eat more. In the meantime do the best you can. Follow your surgeon's instructions. Other good sources of protein early out are soft eggs, greek yogurt, and string cheese.

Water is hardest. It takes a while before you aren't sipping CONSTANTLY to get enough water.

After 2 weeks I could eat softer foods like tuna, chicken, fish, shellfish.  If something wasn't moist enough it was awful.  I can remember eating a 1 oz piece of fish and being miserable.  I started off with the weight control oatmeal in the morning prepared with skim milk to get the extra pop of protein. The total protein for the whole package if I made it with skim milk was 15 g, but I could only eat half of it.

For lunch, I ate 1.5 oz of albacore tuna.  I got sick of it!  After 2 weeks, I was able to eat almost the whole 3 oz can of tuna.  For dinner, I ate fish and I had a lot of rotisserie chicken because it was so moist.  I would portion my protein out and would not eat anything else until I finished my protein portion.  Up until 10 weeks out, I had to supplement with a protein shake to reach my protein goals for the day.

My goal was to get off of protein shakes and eat my protein instead of supplementing with the shakes.  I was pretty much off of the protein shakes at 3 months.  Like Jen said, it does get easier.

Good luck!

First of all, you live in MT and I am SOOOO jealous!  I haven't been there since the 1990's, i can't wait til next summer, we're going to go to Glacier National Park, I can't wait!  Every doctor is different, mine wants us to get about 100g of protein daily (including 50g by protein drink).  As for the hair loss, I'm 5 months out and have been getting most of my protein in and have been losing my hair for a month .  I've added the vitamin biotin to my regimen (ii've heard it helps a lot of folks).  I wish you the best of luck, lys
