greetings jennifer

i am 5'10" and weighed 463 on day of surgery. i didn't keep charts on the speed of weight coming off, but as best i remember, i lost about 275 in the first 2 years. i held pretty steadily for nearly a year, then had some plastic surgery to remove skin, and lost another 20 lbs after that surgery. the time went by fast! it was like i was melting!

the skin was very bad. there are pics on my profile. but, i'm also 51 years old and have been morbidly obese my entire life, so my skin was shot!

good luck to you!

It's too close to my surgery date to give you answers like the other posters.  My highest weight was 470 - I lost 5 lbs. before liquid diet and then another 35 on liquid diet and so far have been battling with the ups/downs (my body is fighting me hard) on an additional 25-30 pounds in the 9 1/2 weeks since my surgery.  Others have been great in posting their loose skin pictures.  I'm expecting similar results because I have a similar amount of weight to lose and in some places (most notably my arms) I can feel the skin sags (skin still there, fat gone, it's a weird feeling).

Best wishes with your surgery - you've got quite a ride ahead of you.  My only warning (and maybe it's just me) don't listen to the people who tell you that the weight just "pours off".  If you look at the BIG picture (someone who says, "I lost 100 pounds in 6 months") it DID just pour off, but I (like most of us) struggle with weighing myself too often and when you're stuck in the moment of it, to me, it seems more like the weight just "trickles off" - then it wil make a big leap off, and then go back to trickling again.  It's frustrating, but you've got to have patience and hang in there.

I am 5 ft 7 and 1/2 and was originally 487.  I am curious to know how "bad" it will be too...

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

Hi,
I weighed 492, on 10/18/06.  I am almost 2 years out, STILL losing, but so far have lost 275 pounds.
My arms are very baggy (upper arms), my stomach and my legs still carry most of my weight.  From the top up, people tell me I am very small framed, which is shocking, I feel like I've lost it all up top and slowly from the bottom half.

Any questions or anything you need, please feel free to email me at:

Good luck!
