Any movement is a bonus!  As you begin to drop weight, you will find it easier and easier to move.  Your knees will not ache as much and you will have better stability.  I went from hobbling downt he stairs slowly every morning and dreading the climb at night to go to bed to now, I bound up and down them like there was never a problem.

I made a commitment to myself to exercise after surgery and it was tough at first but I stuck with it.  My doc told me because of my high bmi that I should exercise 5 days a week and I have never looked back!  I now consider myself an athlete and even still at 250 I can hang in with some of the best of them at the YMCA!  Congrats on your 300 steps...may they continue to grow, and grow and grow!

Walking!  Woo!

I started out at 530 lb and was housebound, barely able to walk at all.  I used an armbike at first and as I lost weight, my mobility improved significantly.  Today, I walked four miles.

My knees are bad, too.  They don't bend well.

Do what you can each day, and before long, you'll be strutting out there with the rest of us!

Wow Kix, someone was bound and determined for me NOT to exercise today.  I've been lacking energy lately again and have not been getting up as early as I was, but still managing to get some cardio and my weight training in every day.  I've been hitting that snooze.  Well today, I must have turned my alarm off.  The clock said 8AM when I work up. I popped up because I had to get ready for work.

After my shower, I realized that the clock was wrong and it was only a little after 7.  But I didn't really have time for cardio and weights.  So I purposed to go after work.

Fast forward to the end of the day.  Went and got my parking decal at the University and student ID (had to pay $40 for both and I was pissed) and decided I was going to check out the university gym because I heard it was awesome.  It's close to home so I drove home to change.  Got back and it was closed until 8/22.  Ugh!  I almost gave up but decided to go to the Y on my side of town.  Yuck.  All the equipment was old.  The elliptical was an old, oddball machine.  They didn't have my lower body workout machines and I was just mad.  Then, the water fountain was not working.

Needless to say, I still got in 20 minutes on the ancient elliptical machine and 25 minutes of lower body strength training today.

The exercise gods were not on your side, it seems!  Good job on staying the course, I'd have probably thrown my hands in the air at some point and said, "I'm done for the day."

I added a walk in my hilly neighborhood this morning to my exercise plan.  Funny how what seems like a short distance in the car is a lot farther when you're hoofing it!  Turned out to be 1.5 miles.

I did another 1.5 miles at the park, and then walked the dogs a mile when I came home.

Oh, I also did some strength training at the gym, I was there about 45 minutes.

Four miles of walking for me, a new personal best.  I swtiched up and took my little radio with me and listened to leftie radio while I walked, a nice change from my Ipod tunes.

I love my pedometer, it's fun to rack up the miles/steps/calories.
