Gym is Open (Tasked x Two Tuesday) 8/19

Tasked!  That's my theme for today.  I was lax in my exercise yesterday, and, coupled with some lazy eating patterns over the weekend, things can start sliding very quickly.  The great thing about this wonderful WLS tool is that it's an adjunct to correcting lifelong bad eating habits.  For example, I ate a big azz dinner roll (290 calories' worth, boo!) and although I enjoyed the taste immensely, it didn't sit wel and now I feel bloated enough to compete with the Michelin Man for his advertising gig.  In my pre-WLS, circus fat days, I could have eaten the entire bag of six big azz dinner rolls along with an enormous meal and not even noticed how much I ate.

My task for today is to follow the menu I set up for the day, and to do the amount of exercise I allocated for myself.

For those of you lucky enough not to have to beat yourself senseless with sticks to stay on track, we can call today "Trusty Tuesday" because you can be trusted to stay the course!

What did you do to move your body today?

Sorry that big azz dinner roll got the best of you yesterday, Kix.  Next time beat it senseless with a stick and then feed it to the dog.... LOL

I'm not in the office today, so no gym time so far.... I guess I should take the dog for a walk before it starts raining again....

The dog would be thrilled to get the big azz roll, but he's got a weight problem, too, so I don't want to encourage his bad habits!  I'm already marching him up and down the street every day to get him slimmed down a bit.

Mindful, mindful, mindful - keep bringing yourself back to that, Kix, and it will help you find your way through the carby chaos...

Today's a yoga day for me at lunch.  It's look crappy outside (dark, overcast, definitely going to rain, rain, rain), so perhaps no outdoor walk after work today unless it clears up.  If not, I'll go back to the gym and do some strength training, a little core work, and maybe some rowing...  edited at end of day - weather is great now, so I'm going to walk in the park for an hour or so!!!

Mindful worked for today, so I am grateful.  I need to chant, "Carbs suck!" repeatedly until my brain accepts it as gospel truth.

Are you enjoying the yoga?

I am enjoying yoga a lot - it's great for muscle toning, plus it's also really good for flexibility.  I feel really good when I'm done - relaxed, but refreshed and energized.  There are some of the poses I can't do yet -- frankly I'm not sure I'll ever be able to so do some of them!!! -- but the instructor always tries to offer alternatives.  If you get a chance, you should try it - you might enjoy it!!!

"Carbs suck" = Kix new mantra!

I went to a different gym within our gym network this morning and took a zumba class. Holy &^%$ it was tough! I don't know if I'll do it again. It was a lot of fun but I felt somewhat unstable on my ankles so I couldn't get into it. I also felt kind of stupid and uncoordinated, but that's just because everyone else in the room had obviously been there before.

My rec center offers zumba, and I was dying to try it, but you have to sign up for the entire series of classes and I was too afraid my knees/ankles/arches/some other assorted body part would snap off during class and I'd be out $65.

Was it hard to keep up because of the pace, or just because it was unfamiliar to you?

I don't think it would be great if you knees are bad. From what I read about it beforehand its not the best choice with bad knees. Sometimes it was hard to keep up the pace but more it was unfamiliar. The motions are repetitive once you get them down. That gym has them in the morning for free but they charge in the evening, $10 I think.

It was more fun than aerobics classes or the jazzercise my mom used to do, and the music was very cool, but I'm just not sure its for me. I felt self-conscious and everyone was being rambunctiously (and fakely) happy. Its just to early to fake enthusiasm.

Hi Kix! Today i walked 300 steps. I'm preop still untill next Thursday and I weigh 483 pounds so really any movement is good for me right now. I also ride my bike. I can go 2 miles in 20 mins tho I try for 30 mins sometimes I don't get there because of my knees but I'm really good at not stopping too many days a week. I havnt rode today yet but I will get that in before bed. I love that you guys post like this and hope I can become a part of it. :) Have a great evening!
