Monday weigh in - it's that time again
I know - I can't believe it. You ladies are such an inspiration. I may not be a WLS patient yet, but I'm sure trying to eat like one.
I want to take some new pix, but have not yet accomplished it. When kiddo was here, the camera was always at hand and fully charged. Since she left, it is not used as often, so it is likely buried under the mound of stuff on my desk. I'm sorry now that I do not have any good full body "before" pics. but I was too camera shy at 450 lbs.

My scale did not move this week which really frustrates me, but I am starting to notice a pattern of stall for a few weeks and then a drop in weight just about the time I am going to hit the scale with a sledge hammer. I swear it can feel my animosity and then acts accordingly. So in the meantime - I am going to keep on keeping on and hope try to understand my pattern of losing. Or at least pray for patience regarding my pattern of losing. Oy!!
Your pattern of losing sounds very similar to mine, and boy could it be frustrating. I couldn't give up my daily weighing though, so after about 6-7 months I finally figured out that it was just how my body worked! I'd have 2-4 weeks where I'd lose maybe 2-5 pounds, then I have 1-2 weeks where I'd drop 8-12 pounds. The 2-4 week stretch was always tough, as I wasn't seeing any rewards although I was doing the right thing! So I can really understand and relate to your frustration.
One of the things that helped me make peace with my pattern of losing was to focus on how I was doing on a 4-6 week basis, rather than a daily basis. Since our day-to-day weight fluctuates for so many reasons (sodium, fluids, Aunt Flo, bowel movements [or lack thereof!]), it's not really a great gauge of how we're doing. So I tried to focus on how my weight compared to where I was 4-6 weeks prior; since that was generally a 8-10 pound difference most of the time, it helped give me perspective that I was doing okay. And it helped make the daily weighing a more positive, rewarding experience.
Mind game? Definitely, but it worked for me.... Not sure whether it can help you or others, but I thought I'd share anyway. Have a great day!
