Hi everybody.  I hope there were good weekends all around. Mine was.... interesting. We decided not to move in with friends afterall. We hung out all day Sat and had a great time, but something inside me said I didn't want to move. This is (hopefully) my final year as a student and I don't need to be distracted. We are all kind of sad about it, but Ryan and I agree that its the right decision.

I also realized that I would have a much harder time controlling my eating if I lived there. I ate a whole bunch Sat, including basically a whole package of Saltines as a snack. Sun I also over-ate and made bad choices.  Today its back to the drawing board.  At least I did a ton of exercise on Sat.

B - mootopia with protein powder

L - chili

S - mootopia with protein powder

D - stuffed bell peppers

S - cottage cheese

It must have been a salty weekend throughout the Southwest (sometimes I see Colorado classified as being in the Southwest, which geographically makes no sense, but I digress).  I ate carbs all weekend long, including pretzels, which will pack on about 14 lbs overnight.  Oy.  I also was distracted and didn't journal my food, which is naughty, tsk tsk.

Why do I eat carbs when I know they are the devil?  Someone please explain it to me.

I think you made a good choice regarding your move.  It's hard to live with folks even when you love 'em (my sister and I had some serious adjusting to do), and I'd hate to see a neat friendship go sour over a living arrangement.  Well done!

Today will be a protein-laden day.  It's also a day full of errands, which I appear to be avoiding by being online longer than I planned.

B: 2 EAS protein drinks @220 calories, 34g protein
S: Think Thin bar @240 calories, 20g protein
L: Chicken leg meat, 6 oz @300 calories, 45g protein
S2: protein pudding @200 calories, 40g protein
D: big azz dinner roll @290 calories, 10g protein
S3: Think Thin protein bar @240 calories, 20 g protein
S4: Atkins bar @150 calories, 11g protein
Totals: 1650 calories - 130 calories expended = 1520 calories, 169g protein

Too many calories today/not enough exercise.  That @*$& dinner roll did me in and I was too full to eat dinner until really late, which is why I ended up eating protein bars.  Boo.

More later,
Kix

You always should go with your gut feeling.  I know that was a tough decision for you but I think you thought through it thoroughly and came out with what's best for you and Ryan.  Now, has he finished apologizing for quitting too early?  I know that's a whole other story!

I ate like a pig yesterday, probably to make up for saturday.  It was mostly carbs but I did get in 76G protein to boot.  Had 1500 calories that included about 5 bites of chocolate cake.  No, no, no!    But the few bites satisfied me.

B - SBD Protein bar
Post workout - Nectar chocolate truffle protein shake (1/2 serving)
L - 1 cup of chili
D - of course, we didn't pull anything out for dinner again!

I had an amazing weekend!!!  Girls weekend at Santa Monica. Our hotel was across from the beach and once we parked the car we walked everywhere. It a was beautiful, great weekend! I had so much fun I forgot to eat most of the time! Got a nice little sunburn too ... ugh!

The best part of all for me was - while walking with my 4 girlfriends on the pier I spotted someone I knew from my past. I told the girls I wanted to say hi and I walked up to him , said his name and it was only when he heard my voice that he recognized me. This guy is someone I was head over heels in love with, we met when we were 18 and working at Dodger Stadium together. We haven't seen each other in 20 years. I was much heavier when I knew him before but not at my highest. Things just didn't work for us after 8+years of on and off dating.

One of my girlfriends said to him "Isn't she beautiful now" his response was something I'll never forget, he said she's always been beautiful no matter what her size, now it's just that everyone sees it right away when they look at her. I swear I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

I hung out on the pier talking to him while the girls shopped. It was nice to catch up on life.

Here's today's plan -

Pre B - SF NF Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte

B - ham, cheese, triscuits

S - 1 sugar free vanilla Carmel

L - homemade turkey chili, small banana

S - ? if hungry turkey jerky

D - chicken, veggies

S - banana ice cream

Jan, when I moved to L.A. in late 1981, the Santa Monica Mall was pretty new, and the first store I shopped at as a new arrival to SoCal was the Robinsons at that mall.  I liked Robinsons and Ohrbach's, too bad they are both gone now.

<> It sounds like you had a great time!  I love the Santa Monica Pier and if memory serves, there was a little funky shack on the pier that had decent (albeit deep fried) seafood.

<>Congrats on a wonderful weekend, and I didn't see you on CNN, so I'm presuming it was within the legal limits of fun!

The Santa Monica mall? I have no clue about it but they now have the Santa Monica Promenade which is blocks and blocks of stores and cafe's and no cars allowed. It was really nice.

The pier is totally different now too, of course all the touristy shops and rides and game places but a few big restaurants like Bubba Gumps (where we had dinner Sat night).

It was all legal, well except for the old boyfriend part ;) hubby wasn't too thrilled to hear about that. He thinks since I've lost weight I'm suddenly going to find someone better than him and leave him! I keep telling him he's stuck with me.

Thanks Kix it was a super fun weekend.

Santa Monica Mall (or it might be another name now, I'm not sure) is at the southern end of the Promenade.  I like that part of Santa Monica very much, it's really fun to walk around looking at the shops and the people, too.  The ocean breezes add to the fun atmosphere.  I would have liked to live in that part of town, but I worked downtown and frankly didn't earn enough to afford the Westside!    Los Feliz was closer to my work and in those days more affordable.

How was Bubba Gumps?  We have one here in Denver (downtown) but we haven't been over there yet.

Tell your hubby he doesn't need to worry, from what you've posted about him here, he sounds like a 100% keeper to me.

I love Buba Gumps! We've gone in Hawaii and Florida, of course those times I was huge and didn't give a rats arse about what fried stuff I ate!

I like their peel and eat shrimp now. Sat. night I had grilled catfish and got broccoli instead of rice. It was very good.

Hubby will always worry, it just the way he is, and that's after 18 years of marriage. Your right, he's a keeper for sure. After all we've been through I certainly don't want to have to train someone else! :)

Living with other people is always a tricky issue - I'm glad you made a decision that you're comfortable with...  Today's been an odd food day for me - I was at home this morning while an electrician was doing some work, so I'm a bit out of my routine.  But nothing bad - just different...

Breakfast:  1 c. 1% milk in my coffee, 1 packet Quaker Weight Control oatmeal

Snack:  1 c. lowfat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. SF preserves, 2 oz. blueberries, 2.5 oz. strawberries

Snack:  1 small banana, ~2 tbsp. peanut butter

Lunch:  garlic bagel, 2 tbsp. cream cheese

Snack:  Pure Protein blueberry crumb bar

Snack:  2 pieces string cheese, either an apple or some wheat thins

Dinner:  either leftover lemon chicken or grilled pork, maybe sauteed squash w/ mushrooms, maybe some salad

Snack:  ??? haven't been doing an evening snack as often these days - just not feeling that bit of pre-bedtime hunger
