I was told to lose twenty pounds when I went for my consult with the surgeon for two reasons.  One - The hospital he prefers only allows gastric surgery to be performed on individuals with a BMI of 59.9 or lower.  Two - The surgeon said it would help him in the long run because of it helping to shrink the fatty liver.

So, I was happy to lose the weight... well still losing I am required to lose four more pounds to make weight but I would like to lose at least seven more so I don't have to stress about it!

Good luck to you!

I was 551 and not required to loose any weight but my liver was not obstructed by large amounts of fat.  My friend was 450 and had to loose 20 lbs so they could hold back her liver.  Go to ST V in IN.
