OK, everyone, let's mambo the day away!

I plan to do my full workout today (treadmill and strength training).  My foot and knee are feeling better, I think my exercise shoes are broken down because I did some walking during the weekend wearing a different pair of shoes and didn't have much pain at all.  Time to break in my new pair (I hate breaking in new shoes).

What did you do to move your body today?

Hey I found one good thing about the Olympics being in China!  They're showing the good stuff on TV LIVE while I'm working out at O'Dark Thirty.....

I split it up today and did 15 mins on the elliptical and 15 mins on the stationary bike.....

I've had two great pair of gym shoes, I loved my Propets but I finally wore most of the sole away in places, LOL, so I'm wearing some Easy Spirit ones now....

Did you watch the swimming relay?  I didn't see the replay, but I understand the American team's win was quite exciting.

I also wear Propets, have for years.  At Dunny's suggestion, I'm going to try the Brooks shoes.  I used to love Easy Spirit shoes but for some reason I wear them out too fast.

I really hate shoes.  I wish   it was acceptable to go out barefoot, or in socks.

How's the weather in Pensacola these days?  I remember August being excruciating in Tallahassee, the heat was oppressive and the humidity nearly suffocated me.  Pensacola is probably much nicer being on the ocean and all.

Good job on the elliptical!  Are you getting good definition in your upper arms?  Hoppy and Bob, my swaying underarms, have nice definition  when I hold my arms in the Popeye muscle pose.

Have you considered a pair of pricier stability-style sneakers to help with the joints? I wear Brooks shoes, either the "support" or "control" variety.  I'm extremely loyal to the Ariel model. My last 3 pairs were Ariels.  My reasoning originally was to help with motion control at the ankle, because I have very bad ankles. I haven't sprained one since I started buying better shoes. It also turned out that those shoes were recommended by podiatrists if you have plantar fasciaitis, which I do/did. I wear my sneakers basically everyday, and I replace them once a year generally, although I'll usually replace the insole once about 6 months into it. Currently I have two insoles because my shoes are too big!

I have been using the Propet Stability Walker, but after seeing your second recommendation for the Brooks shoe, I sucked it up and bought a pair today.  I bought the Brooks Addiction Walker from Amazon (it was on sale).  The Ariel didn't come in my size on Amazon.  If the Addiction shoe works for me, I'll look for the Ariel model later on.  Sore feet are a real nuisance, and I think the sore feet annoy my knees, to.

Off to the gym now.  It's such a pretty day, I don't wanna, but I ate a big breakfast, so I have to burn some of it off!

Cool, I hope you like the shoes. I tried that model on last time I bought a pair, but they didn't quite do it for me.

I did 40min on the treadmill today, about 20 of it intense and the other 20 more moderate. It was just too hot. I am just too warm all the time to want to work out.

I'm hoping these shoes work out, they were on sale so I was highly motivated!  I'm looking forward to it, I exercised today wearing a different pair of Propets (black walking shoes that I don't wear all the time) and I had minimal foot pain today.

My gym feels stuffy sometimes, even though I'm using the treadmill directly under the big circulating fan.  I can't tell any more if it's really hot or if I'm having one of my special radiant moments.

Thanks for the reminder about the Brooks shoes.  I wrote it down the first time you mentioned them and promptly filed the note away in my planner.  ARGH.

I really enjoyed my exercise today!

I started off not at the gym, but at the park.  The weather was just too nice to head directly to the gym, so I warmed up by walking briskly for 1.2 miles around the lake at Crown Lake Open Space.

Lots of nice people over there, and I got to hug a terrific, dopey sheepdog named Bluebell.  I saw a cute litte guy (age 4) pedaling like mad on his Big Wheel.  I gave him a thumbs up and said, "You go, dude!" as he zoomed by.  I should have that kind of energy.

I went to the gym and did 25 minutes on the treadmill and only my lower body work since I was a bit pressed for time due to leaving the house a bit late.  Also, the air in the gym felt particularly stuffy today, not sure why.

I came home and the dogs took me for a trot up and down our hilly block.  Harry the doxie was overly enthused walking today.  He insisted on walking at a trot and barked at every car that drove by us.  Oy.  Sam, the shih tzu, slipped out of his collar during our trot, which means I'd better use his harness from now on.  I couldn't bear it if he got away from me and was  hit by a car.

We encountered a little guy (probably age 10) who was sitting in his driveway looking quite sad.  I asked him if he was ready for school to start tomorrow, and he said, "No!"  I reminded him that it's important to work hard in school, but not to work so hard that he doesn't enjoy it.  I wonder if his mother will come beat me up after she goes to parent-teacher night!

I may try walking around the lake every morning before I go to the gym.  It was a nice change, and I was fully warmed up when I got to the gym and didn't have to bother with stretching, etc.
