Hiya ladies (and lurkers with a Y chromosome)

Its the weekend, and I'm a cranky face. I don't know why. I have no good reason. We are having a little get together at our apartment tonight, and for some reason, even though I like all of the people who are invited, I'm just not in the mood for it. I'm not in the mood to cook for them, clean up after they leave, etc. I'm not in the mood to chit-chat and I'm just tired. We've been doing stuff with people a lot lately, and it goes against my anti-social nature just a little bit. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fun.

I am also cranky because my stupid cat yarked up a big pile of freshly-eaten food all over my carpet right in the middle of the living room. I just steam cleaned the carpet last weekend! Come on kitty! So I have to pull out the cleaner again in a little while. And there is a giant dead bug that I don't want to pick up (I'm a wimp even when they are dead) right next to my chair.  Its one of those tree roach things, like 3-4 inches long. They sneak in sometimes, they like to sit on top of door frames, and when you open the door the fast little *******s drop down and run in. And then a week later you are reading in bed and look over and there is a giant roach on the wall looking back at you  (true story). Blech. Neither of us can kill them, but we catch them in a cup and take them back outside. They are worse on rainy years, this is the first one I've seen this year, and it looks like the cats had fun with it last night.

Yum yum, lets talk about food now.

B - mootopia

L - side salad with light italian dressing

S - one square of dark chocolate (it has chili in it, OMG bad experiment, sooooo yummy)

D - chicken and broccoli with a little alfredo sauce on top

S - canteloupe and strawberries

Saturday has been a total food day - ugh - and we're playing poker tonight w/ friends and there's always lots of food.  Again, ugh.  Here's the damage so far today -

Breakfast:  1/2 c. 1% milk in morning coffee (before going out to breakfast), 5 coffee creamers, most of a serving of eggs benedict (at about 1 and 1/2 of the 2 pieces that were served), served w/ 1/4 of an avocado and french fries (ate about 5-6 fries - they got cold fast and i hate cold fries)

Snack:  1 c. lowfat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. SF preserves, 2 oz. blueberries, 2 oz. strawberries

Lunch:  1 everything bagel, 2 oz. light cream cheese, 2 1/2 oz. lox

In those three meals/snacks, I've had as many calories as I usually eat in an entire day, and it's only 5 o'clock.  Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Weekends are my achilles heel.  I do great sticking to the "eat only when your hungry plan" until it is the weekend and family feasting begins.  I don't make bad choices, I just chose to eat instead of drink my water like I do during the week.  ARGH!

Honestly, I think its a good thing. Some people might disagree, but I've found my body responds best when I keep it on its toes. Sometimes I won't eat much at all for a few days, and I won't lose, and then I'll have a day heavy on food and suddenly 2 lbs is gone the next morning. Its like its waiting to make sure its going to get food again before its willing to drop those pounds.  A lot of people seem to report this. They won't be losing well, they'll go on vacation and no****ch what they eat, and they come back 5lbs lighter.  Not that I advocate no****ching what you eat, but I do advocate having more food than usual once in a while. Some diets recommend the same thing, close calorie monitoring all week, and then eat what you want on Sunday. They say it keeps your metabolism from falling to accomodate the lower amount of calories you eat the rest of the time. I don't know if this has been scientifically proven, but the logic makes sense.

Weekends seems to be filled with carbs (probably not the boatloads of carbs I used to eat, but more than I eat during the week).

Saturday:
B: 2 cans protein pudding while at hair salon (and learning that my beloved stylist is moving to AZ)
L: .5 pastrami burger and onion rings
D: .5 pastrami burger and onion rings (oddly enough, they were better cold).

Sunday:
B: went to Breakfast King, a funky truck stop-ish place in town.  The portion sizes are just frightening!  I ate 2 oz buffalo patty, .25 pancake, .25 hash browns, and 1 slice wheat toast.  Oh, and 3 cups of the tastiest decaf prior to the meal arriving.  Just looking at the huge platter of food given to me made me full.  I had to force myself to eat what I ate.

L: .5 slice leftover toast, 1 oz leftover buffalo patty,  .25 leftover pancake, .25 leftover hash browns

D: sick of eating solid food, had 2 EAS protein drinks

Bedtime snack: 2 cans protein pudding

I shudder to think of the calories consumed, but I'll need to update my food journal tomorrow.
