Hi, Sunny, and welcome to our little corner of the internet!  The folks in this forum are super friendly, supportive and helpful, so lots of good support to be had for the asking.  My highest weight was 409, my surgery weight was 386, and I'm holding pretty steady these days around 180 pounds.  Feel free to ask whatever questions come to mind - it's a lot of information to gather and "digest," but it's a great and worthwhile effort!!!

Welcome -

Kellie

Hi Sunny! :) That's quite a name to live up to!

I am 5"7 and currently weigh 352 -- my highest was 365. I am 40, and hope to have my surgery the first week of October (I should know more Tuesday). I am self-pay.

I hope to lose...as much as I can! lol I've been 200, and would be happy there -- but I would not mind seeing the 150's. :)

I have a 19 year old son (my only), 3 cats, and a puppy (his pic is my avatar). I have been divorced twice (once at 22, from my son's father -- the cheating *******! lol, and the second time 3 years ago -- didn't cheat, but a ******* nontheless. It seems I tend to marry narcissists (with borderline tendancies). Lucky me! I am now relieved to be happily single.

I am planning on having the VSG proceedure, although I strongly considered the RNY as well.

Hi Kimberly.

Thanks for responding. LOL , Sunny is actually my real name.   My surgery is going to be Oct 28th. I hope your date is soon. I have been waiting this time, 15 months.

I was married on 12/21/07. Hubby can be a little arrogant, but not a *******lol

I would lke to get down to at least 200 lbs, before I get plastics..

Hey -- you got married on my birthday! ;) I think you have a great name -- and very optimistic parents! Good thing you were not born a pessimist! lol (You weren't, were you? :P

The one good thing about self-pay is that you don't have to wait so long...I will have my surgery -- either on the 1st of October or the 6th. Just have to get my sleep study results in (which should be fine).

You know, I lost about 140 in a year, about 10 years ago, which put me at 200 -- but I would not have needed ps. It will be interesting to see if I do this time around. I do know that I will want to get my arms done -- I have my grandma's arms....and that is NOT a good thing!

As long as your hubby is not a narcissist, you'll probably be okay! :) My was seriously one (diagnosed by our marriage counselor, in fact). So now, I run away from guys I am attracted to -- because I can be sure they are narcissists! LOL

Nice to meet you!

Kimberly,

WOW, how did you lose the 140 lbs?  I have lost weight like that..... either cause I was bulimic, I was to poor to eat, or I was ill.

My arms need plastics horrible now. I am sure they will need it more after I loose weight again. I want to get an upper body lift, boobs, tummy tuck,  and arms done. I sure as heck need it...lol

No, my hubby is not narcisstic. Thank goodness.

Sunny

I lost it by eating low fat (under 10 grams a day for the first 8 months) and exercising a hour a day. It was actually very healthy, no starvation or anything. I stuck with it (adding back some fats -- maybe 20-25 grams a day) for several years. I started to regain when I got involved with my second husband. Relationships with narcissists are not easy!

I am hoping that I will only need the arms, but I don't know. Certainly my stomach is bigger than it used to be, but when I exercise it definitely improves pretty quickly. My thighs could go either way -- definitely some concern with my inner thighs. Eehh -- it's just too hard to know. :) Hopefully, I'll see!

Keeping 140lbs off is a feat without WLS. I have lost weight and it has always come back. I have PCOS too. So any weight loss seems to come back regardless.

I wish you luck.

I know the feeling -- it is frustrating to lose so much and gain it back (plus a few of it's friends, it seems). That is why I am getting weight loss surgery -- no so much to lose the weight (though I'm sure it will help) but to keep it off.

I had a friend with PCOS -- it is definitely not any fun. I do not have it, but I do deal with hypothyroidism and depression.

I think I could have kept that 140 off, but I got into this relationship and lost touch with myself -- that is when I started putting the weight back on.

Now I am trying with surgery -- 10 years older. bleah Still, it's better than 50, I guess! :)

Kimberly,

Definitely better to do it early in life. I will be 35 , 10 days after surgery. I was on waiting list 6 yrs ago and I drop it because the wait was so long. I have waited this time 15 months for start to end. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  lol
