More protein! Go meat! Are you chewing your meat enough times (boy, does that sound naughty!)
This ban against supplementing protein makes me cross. What is their logic behind it?
Also, exercise is an important adjunct. You don't have to start out doing an Olympic routine, just start walking short distances and increase as able. I started out doing arm bike and the Sit and Tone videos when I was quite fat and unable to get around the house without a walker.

I think that the surgery center I go to has a lot of low-income patients on medical assistance. In their literature, they say that there is no need to take on the extra expense of quality protein supplements. When I asked about protein supplementation (and said that I didn't mind the expense) the NUT said that in general Americans eat TOO much protein and that post-op patients were able to get enough protein from just regular foods without the supplements. Honestly, I want to stick with their guidelines, but they don't seem too upset when you modify them to meet your needs. I just remember from the liquid diet though how much I truly *hated* the shakes and for the 1 week post-op liquid diet I couldn't handle straight milk (I could mix it in SF pudding and I've been able to eat cheese since, but no milk).
Thanks for the advice on the videos. I'm going to try to find them - if I can't I will PM you. I need to focus on walking more - I have to understand that it will start slow and build from there.
