I have a Surgery date
I did a modified Optifast pre-op, and it was actually easier to get used to the new way of eating as an early post-op. I didn't have to mourn the food I could no longer eat because I'd already mourned it before surgery.
Be prepared to pee like a racehorse that first week on Optifast, since the first week's weight loss is mostly water. Even if it's all water weight loss, it's still water you didn't need to carry around!
Adding SF syrups to your Optifast drinks helps provide variety.
Congrats!

Congratulations Kitty on getting your surgery date! And Valerie too! Seems like we'll have a few newbies again soon.
The pre-surgery diets can be hard at first, but everyone seems to adjust to them quite well and like Kix said, they do help with the early stages of post-op. Best wishes to all of you going through these stages - remember that it is all worth it in the end!

Pre op dieting is hard. There is so much at stake! I was a complete B$%#! when I started dieting (I had to lose alot to qualify for the program for Rny GB) I couldn't stop crying and slipped up alot. I don't know if it was carb withdrawl or hormones fluctating.
I wish you all the luck in the world though...it gets easier.
Congratulations and hang inn there!
:)
