I fell in love today at the health club

I got my butt to the pool today and as I was on the way out of the locker room to go to the pool, she caught my eye. She told me how great I am doing on my journey and encouraged me to try harder. She is really alluring.

Yes, you may know her. The Scale.

Some of you may know that I rarely post in the weigh-in thread because it has been hard for me to get weighed. I can go to the sleep clinic at the hospital or my doctor's office, but nothing convenient. Well, today I noticed that the scale in the locker room goes to 400, not 350. (I could have sworn it was 350 - maybe they got a bigger one)

The first time I consider weighing myself, there are too many young moms with great bodies. I played and did water aerobics in the outdoor pool and then checked again. Nope, the after work crowd. Swam laps and sat in the hot tub. 3rd time was the charm. Locker room was deserted. I step on, slide the 2 weights full to the right.

OMG! I'm less than 400. How much less? 388 was the lowest I've been in 6 mos and that was when I was sick. Last weight was 402. Inching it down ....

386.

I have lost 64 pounds since mid-May.

So I now have a crush on Ms Scale. I'll have to go exercise more often so I can flirt with her.

Thanks, I have worked at this. I was really scared I was not losing.

I was really excited about having surgery, but was so frustrated when I wasn't able to quit smoking. I had to do SOMETHING. I found a tool that is working for now for the food. Now I need to tackle other issues, such as smoking and codependent behaviors. This is a long road, isn't it? It is not just the weight loss, it's dealing with issues without food.

Good job on the weight loss, and your Ms. Scale at the gym is definitely a keeper!  Her evil counterpart, Bezelbub, resides at my health club.  Mr. B routinely weighs 10 lbs higher than any other scale I ever step on, I think they do that so they can sell their prepackaged diet program.

Sounds like you had a nice day at the pool, too!

I did have a lovely time. Isn't it great when exercising can be like playing? I want to try some Tai Chi when I have more energy.

Thanks! So are you! I sort of consider you and others who have had surgery in the May/June 2008 timeframe as journey sisters. It's so great to hear how well we all are doing.

Ah, the scale, she is a fickle Mistress.  One day, she loves you like your the only thing in the world, the next day she's cheating on you with some hot young thing in a size 0.  But when she's good, she's very, very good - glad you've made her acquaintance :-)

Yes, I've heard the rumors about her. One thing I've learned here is she's best visited less frequently esp. in high humidity or during a the bloat part of the moon cycle.

Seriously though, it's such a relief finding a scale I can use in a place that is not a hassle to get to. Now if I can just get past the shame of weighing myself when other people are around ....

Funny, I have no problem traipsing around in a bathing suit (tank) but I don't want those size 0's hearing those weights slam over to the right.
