Weight loss slow, eating right?

Hello everyone,

I am concerned because I should be losing a little faster than I am.  If I give you the sample of yesterday's menu, could you tell me if I am doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Tara

B:  3 ounces meat loaf (made wls friendly) and 3 ounces mashed potatoes
L:  2 ounces beef steak and 1/4 cup green beans
D:  3 ounces meatloaf and 3 ounces mashed potatoes
S:  1 snack bag of Kay's Natural White Cheddar things
S:  1 tsp organic, all-natural peanut butter

I also managed to get in about 50 ounces of water, my multi vits and 2 of my calcium wafers.

You are doing great, and the weight loss will happen. It NEVER happens as fast as you want, and that first stall is the hardest, but a lot of people stall at about 1 month out so don't be surprised if its happened to you. My ONLY comment on your food is that it MIGHT be a little carb heavy (and I do not think carbs are evil but they do seem to slow my weight loss too) - maybe aim for one starchy carb like potatoes or kay's per day instead of 2-3. Carbs from vegetables and whole grains are optimal because then you get fiber too. I understand though, that mashed potatoes are very soothing to the pouch early out, and potatoes are a decent fiber source, too, but twice in one day, especially if its a regular occurance MIGHT be a little much.

Its great that you are getting some dense protein at every meal though!

Thanks for the help, I think I will cut out the potatoes for a few days and see if that helps.   My stomach will certainly miss them, though! :D

I wouldn't worry about slower weight loss, your body has been dealing with a lot of changes.

I am a little surprised at how much your eating, and like Jenn said I think it's too many carbs. Drop the potatoes and add a healthier steamed veggie or fruit in place of them.

Just to show you how differentt DR's are - I wasn't allowed peanut butter or nuts (unless I was craving them) for the entire first year. The DR told me this is when the most weight would come off and they wanted me giving it my all.

Are you following your DR's eating guidelines? Is so then listen to your DR not us.

One trick I use to remind myself - I always look at my plate and think "Would I be eating this if my DR was sitting here with me?"

It gets so frustrating that the docs are so different! What I'm eating is OK with both my doc and my nut, but it just didn't "feel" right so I thought I would get some input.  I know that it looks like alot, but it takes me about an hour to get through a meal so my stomach is probably emptying some while I'm eating...at least, I hope so because if not, my stomach is probably bigger than I wanted :D

I was told to only eat for 30 minutes, no longer.

oh Gosh do I sooooo understand!!!!! I did not loose weight very well in th beginning I have speed up overtime. I think what you are eating is not bad but what is your excersise. that helps not only loose scale pounds but helps with inches!!!! But the end we are not doctors ( we only play one on TV tee hee) Talk to your nutrionalist and your doctor they now you and your history better than us.

It all gets very frustrating, doesn't it???  What I'm eating was cleared with my docs but just didn't feel right so thanks for the input!  I think I am going to change some things up a bit and see if that helps.  I am still healing from a stubborn open incision so the most I can do at the moment is walk and I try to do that as much as possible.  I'm hoping in another week or so to be cleared for the exercise bike!

Thanks!
