Still filling in for our girl, Marge, *****ally needs to get back online!  We all miss our Georgia peach...

I had a good weekend.  Sat in the yard after work Friday, cranked up the grill, had a beer and a bratwurst for dinner, and just enjoyed the nice weather.  Saturday, I went to a house party at a friend's house - lots of new people, great yard, perfect weather, good food, and just a nice relaxing day.  Sunday was the usual morning -- coffee and newspaper -- then went shopping with a girlfriend.  Bought a pair of Nike basketball-type shorts in a large that should be great for walking in the warmer weather.  Who knew this booty that used to barely fit in a size 5X would ever find in a large anything?  I also bought a pair of North Face cargo shorts - they are actually men's size 36, but they fit great and look great.  I've been doing a lot more walking and hiking, so the cargo shorts will be a nice functional addition to my wardrobe.

Scale was up a bit this morning, but no worries.  I've had a lot more salt that usual the past couple days, so I'm retaining some fluids this morning.  It usually goes away in a couple days.  Anyway, here's the numbers:

Highest recorded weight:  409
Beginning weight:  396
Surgery weight:  386
Last week:  180.7
This week:  183.0

Who's next???

Good Morning!!!   Guess this week I didnt do too bad.  Although I am dispointed in the fact that I stepped up my exercise and increased my protein and I lost less than I did the week before when I wasnt doing that well.  Sometimes I just dont get it.

I didn't start buying new clothes until I had lost about 100 pounds - things were pretty baggy by then, but I figured the longer I could hold out, the less money I'd spend in the long run!!!  Nowadays I have to keep myself from buying everything in sight!!!

Congrats on that 4.4 pound loss - way to go!!!  Another week like that, and you'll be down 40 pounds from your surgery weight!!!

Good morning all,

This is my first post.....but it won't be my last.  I have to stop living on the scale, so I didn't weigh myself at aloo this wee****il this morning. I will use the weekly weigh-in as my official record-keeping.

I am finally getting into the routine. I am now on regular texture foods and am in the stage of experimentation. I am sticking with the tried and true foods and testing the waters with different textures and tastes.  So far, I have been very fortunate. Nothing has given me a problem.

Saturday was my birthday and I was in Maine (I have a small diner-type restaurant in Maine), so my husband made me a fresh lobster salad with low cal mayonnaise. It tasted wonderful, but my pouch rebelled about an hour later.  I did not get nauseous, my pouch  just growled alot!

So here are my stats for the week. Hope everyone has a good week this week. I am also joining a gym this week, so look out world!

Beginning weight:  330
Surgery weight:  316
Last week:  298
This week:  293

Hi, Denise and thanks for joining in!  I like the regular weekly check-ins to see how folks are doing.  For us long-term post-ups, it's inspiring to see the folks who are still losing 4-6 pounds a week.  How we long for those days.  And hopefully we inspire newer post-ops to see just how far they can go!!!

Good luck continuing your transition to regular foods.  I usually tried a new thing every couple days until I was eventually able to eat pretty much everything.  Dense meats were the most challenging for me, but seafood was almost always good.  With your beautiful Maine location, you should have access to lots of delicious fresh seafood!

Congrats on the 5 pound loss - keep up the great work!!!

Hi All -

Had a quiet weekend just catching up on errends and doing some back to school shopping.  Dh was travelling last weekend and we were all pretty tired from the week.  Have another , busy week ahead of me - I'm a family law paralegal and we have a big trial on Friday.  The attorney I work for is the "last minute" type so we are forever working like mad while walking out the door to court.

I have my knee replacement surgery next week.  I can't say that I'm really ready for this - part of me says gosh, I'm feeling good, the food issues have evened out - why do I want to go have another surgery and deal with recovery all over again? However, I know this has to be done and I rather have it done now so I can participate  in at least part of Emily's childhood.  I'm thinking that knee surgery will be more difficult physically than RNY, which for me was pretty easy, but no where near as difficult mentally and emotionally, which RNY for me was terribly difficult.  The difference in my ortho surgeon and WLS surgeon is daunting.  MY WLS surgeon is just so warm & fuzzy while my ortho surgeon is like, "Yep, you need surgery...call my office, set the surgery date and I'll see you then!"  When I say I'm not really ready for this I mean that I don't have the deep, deep calm about this as I did for RNY.  With WLS I was so centered, so ready to face any outcome, including death.  With knee surgery, I'm more like I'll be out of commission for about four weeks, then I gotta get this done, I need to do that, and gotta plan that - it's more like a blip in time.  I hope that makes sense.

Ok...for the stats this week!
Surgery Weight:  440
Last Week:           308.25
This Week:            304.50
Loss for Week:          -3.75
Total Loss:            -135.50

I'm half way to goal!! My next goal is goodbye to the 3's.

Your turn...GO!!!!
