DR appointment updates
Busy day today, had 2 DR's appointment, one for my 2 year follow-up with my Bariatric Internist, and the other with my Gyno, a 2 week follow-up from the hysterectomy.
The WLS follow-up was perfect, she was so pleased with how I've done and that I'm continuing to maintain. All my blood tests came back perfect! She says I'm doing everything right and to keep on doing what I'm doing. I could be drinking a tad bit more, still running just a bit dehydrated.
The American Bariatric Institute says 70% of excess weight lost is the norm, well I'm at 75% and she is just thrilled. She told us the hardest part of WLS is keeping it off, and those that exercise are the ones most likely not to regain.
My Gyno appointment went well too, she wants me off another week but has lifted a lot of my restrictions as far as what I can and can't do. I do have an infection starting, oh joy, but she gave me some stuff for that. I have another follow up in two more weeks.
All in all 2 great appointments filled with good news!
Jan, maybe the extra 5% came from your wonky uterus! Good job on your outstanding weight loss and I am glad to hear you're doing so well after your hysterectomy.
It's almost impossible to avoid infections post-op these days. I don't think American hospitals do a good job of keeping things sterile. Think about it, nurses and other hospital staff wear their hospital clothes outside the hospital. Visitors track in and out all day long. Some people aren't vigilant about hand washing. Ugh. I will say that the hospital where I had WLS and where I had to go when I had repeated cellulitis infections is vigilant about hand washing. In fact, the hospital rooms have big signs that tell the patients to call out any medical person who enters and leaves the room without using the hand sanitizer posted at the patient's door.
Are you back at work yet?
Kix
I'm still off, going back to work next Monday.
I'm having a fun day doing everything I couldn't for the last two weeks - laundry, cleaning, baking. I've baked 3 loafs of pumpkin bread (whole wheat and splenda), and am planning on baking zuchinni bread and 2 coffee cakes later. I help with the senior brunch at church and figure I could bake ahead and freeze while I'm off. Also making a new dish for dinner Asian green bean chicken and my Mock fried rice.
Going with MIL and BIL to Sam's Club in a bit, this is so fun!
Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight!
OK, I must have your recipes for the pumpkin and zucchini breads. I must! I like the idea of them being whole wheat. It can wait until you get home from Sam's Club, LOL! I prefer Costco to Sam's Club, the Sam's Clubs here in CO don't seem to offer as much as Costco. Are you old enough to remember the old FEDCOs in SoCal that I think were the ones who eventually morphed into GEMCO? Those places were fun to shop at!
Kix
Oh, I'm old enough to remember both Fedco and Gemco, in fact there was a Gemco just down the street. I loved going there with my Mom.
Now speaking of old, do you remember the White Front stores?
