Fourth of July Plans?

Just wondering what everyone has planned for the Fourth.  We are expecting company from out of town (whether they actually get here is another story).  Our plans so far are to attend the Rockies game on 7/3 (my sister's financial planner gave her free tickets, so we'll go and suffer through yet another Rockies loss and then enjoy the fireworks show afterward).  We'll probably BBQ some kind of bovine on the Fourth and then plop the lawn chairs on the front lawn and watch the fireworks show from Bandimere Speedway.  The Cherry Creek Arts Fesitval is this weekend, so we'll go to that on Sunday morning.  Kix

Friday we are going to a movie - my first since surgery.  I've been avoidant because moves = popcorn.  Need I say more? Saturday we have to go to a funeral.  My friend/coworker's dad passed.  Then we have plans to go to friends to play Sheepshead.  It's a German/Wisconsin card game. On Sunday we are going down for cookout at my grandparents.  They are 86/87 yo.  Both of the aunts will be there, which will be a first in some time, as they haven't spoke in I don't know how long.  When my mom passed in 2002, it seemed to bring out extra dysfunction in the family.   My mom and I lived with all of them for the 1st 4 years of my life.  Needless to say my eating problems were well established by age 4.  I digress (sorry). Weather should be great here and want to spend some time outside.  To heck with all the mosquitos!  That's what Benadryl cream is for. -Dawn

Let's see, today I get new countertops installed (yea! thank you stimulus check!) and hopefully my husband can figure out how to install the new sink tonight or at least work on it. Friday, we bought 15 pounds of ribs and I'm cooking for my husband's family.  They aren't good BBQ'ers so if i want to be around family and not eat overcooked, tough food (sorry I'm so brutal, but I don't think any of us can eat dried out food on this forum), I'm cooking!  I don't mind though.  Going to see fireworks Friday night. Satruday, going to the beach for a little while then I'm going to work on trying to finish my Astronomy and American History classes on line so I can focus on my other 3 classes that started this week.   Sunday, church, maybe beach, then more school work.   Uneventful weekend for me.  I'm just excited about my new countertops!

We're grillin' and chillin' on Friday with a couple friends - probably making some ribs and grilled chicken, with a couple sides.  I've got some peaches at home, so think I may try grilling them for dessert with some vanilla yogurt and granola.   We're planning to play poker Saturday night.  Probably grilling some bratwurst and kielbasa, and will put out whatever we have leftover from Friday's grilling as well.   If the weather is nice Sunday, I'm going for a hike with a friend from the gym.  If the weather's crappy, I'll probably go see a movie or two!   Kellie

I am *so* excited about this weekend.  Not that we're doing anything special, but it's the first thing I've really done since surgery. Friday we're driving to my mom's house which is about 3 1/2 hours away from my house.  I hope to spend some of the afternoon playing with my nephews and enjoying the nice weather.  I also plan to soak up the compliments from my brother and sister in law who haven't seen me since I lost 50 pounds (and I look quite a bit different..yay)  Then I am going to plop my butt in a chair and watch the lake while my brother grills salmon (he's trying to help the family make changes to support my weight loss...we usually would be eating brats and hamburgers).  After dinner I'll probably watch my dad and brother fish and then we're going to go to the fireworks.  On Saturday I'll probably go for a walk with my family but otherwise I plan to sit by the lake and read and play with my nephews.  We'll light off fireworks from our dock that night (my brother and dad will while we all watch).  I hope we can have a fire in the fire pit Saturday night (if it's not too hot) and my brother's going to grill shrimp that night (and steak, but I can't eat that yet). On Sunday, we'll come back home, but that's OK because we're going back next weekend (and then next Saturday making an afternoon run to Milwaukee for my nephew's birthday party)!  So, a couple of fun weekends ahead!  I just love going home...

On the fourth, we'll go to my daughters for a pool party. I offered to bring marinated chicken breasts so I know there will be something I can eat there. I will also make sure I have plenty of water with me since the rest of the family are all soda drinkers. Saturday we go to my niece's house for a brief visit to see my newborn great niece, then onto another pool party with fellow WLSers. We are all dreading donning bathing suits, but we will be supportive of each other and get through the "trauma" together. LOL  Sunday looks to be a relaxing day with just DH...which will be nice after all the running.  Happy 4th to all!  HUGS  Jeanine
