I'm still carrying the torch until Marge gets her computer back up and running.  I had a super knoshy weekend, that included Mexican food on Saturday, plus a couple beers, seafood wrap and french fries at a local restaurant on Sunday after a hike, followed by a lot more knoshing than usual Sunday afternoon and evening.  The knoshies seem to be gone today, but the pounds and fluid from eating a lot more salt and more calories than usual showed up on the scale today.   I, however, refuse to panic.  I know that by going back to my regular routine, I'll be back in the 185-186 range by the end of the week, because that's where my body seems to be most comfortable.  I'm working hard to try and adjust my thinking about occasionally eating more and/or different things.  I cannot and don't want to do that all the time, but I do want to be able to indulge sometimes.  So I'm trying to find balance for myself and to continue working on having a healthier relationship with food.  I suspect I'll be working on that for a while -  Anyway, that's where I'm at today.  Where are you?  Beginning weight:  396 Surgery weight:  386 Last week:  185.8 This week:  190.2 Kellie

Balance is the hard part and something I am always looking for. I'm like you, I know I can get down pretty easily but I'm tired of the ups and downs - one day really good, the next day out of control. I have a friend who is so methodical in her eating, it never goes out of control. God, I wish I could be like that. It will be a constant struggle all my life, but at least I am struggling at this weight and not at 371! that was so depressing and so hard to overcome. I had a decent week - did indulge some but had tough workouts so it counter acted it. surgery weight: 371 last week's weight: 181 this week's weight: 178 3 down, 8 more to go. I have 3 weeks to do that, my race is July 26 and I want to have lost these 11 pounds at least a week before - it's never a good idea to lose weight the week before. As a matter of fact, I will be doubling up on my carbs that week so weight lose will not be possible. Have I mentioned how excited/nervous/scared I am to be doing this race? The other races were good intros, but this one will be a HUGE challenge. My adventure racing mentor told me that it would be the hardest thing I have ever done and I'll want to quit, but I'll be able to push through it because, get this, I'm a bad ass . that had me cracking up but now I keep thinking in my head "I'm a bad a**, I can do anything." So please make note that my official name is now "bad a**"

What a fabulous compliment -- bad a$$ -- at least that's a compliment in this context in my book!  You go girl I'm in the same place as you - tired of the 5-10 pound up and downs, just wanting to find a comfortable 2-3 range and just stay there.  It's probably more reasonable to aim for a 2-5 pound range, especially since I retain a lot of fluid around my period.  I look and feel really good at 183-185, so that's what I'm aiming for.  You're right that it is better to have this struggle than the things I battled at 396 pounds...   Can you post a link to the information about your next race?  I'd love to see what you're doing!   Kellie

I've adopted it whole-heartedly! Not a bad nickname, if I do say so myself  Didn't you have the orienteering meet this weekend? How did it go? here's the link to the race - they have 3 races, I'm doing the 12 hour/60 mile one.  Sometimes I think "no problem" - other times I think "I'm crazy to be doing this!" We'll see who shows up at the actual race!

I did do the local orienteering event this past Sunday - it was fun.  I went with a friend from the gym, and we just did the beginner/white course.  It took us about an hour and, for the most part, it just followed the trail in the park.  We thought about doing the next level course, but decided that a burger/sandwich and beer seemed like more fun.  The next event is a Canoe-O and we're talking about going if our schedules permit.  The local chapter has about 1 orienteering event per month, so I'm sure we'll do this again - it was fun.   Your post was missing the link to your race - if you have a chance, pop back in and add the link!  I'd love to see what you'll be doing!!!  60 miles in 12 hours?  Girl, you are a bad a$$!!!!!  Bad A$$ Burton!!!! Ooops, here it is http://www.gravityplay.com/adventureracing/summit.html A Canoe-O sounds like fun! They have Night-O and Bike-O here, but I've never heard of Canoe-O. I'm doing a sprint meet in a couple of weeks supposed to be an advanced course so it could be a good challenge. You should definitely do an Orange course - fun, off trail hiking but a kick to find some of the check points. There's an orange course in the middle of the race I'll be doing and the lady who laid out the course also does the planning for the meets I've been to, so I feel like I'll do pretty well. I know what to expect!
