Didn't Get the Job (Again)

I had high hopes after my interview, but it was weird.  Yesterday, I had an odd feeling that I would not get the job.  I told myself I was being silly.  Sure enough, today I was notified by email (email!) that they offered the job to another candidate.  I guess I was either overqualified for the gig, or they figured they couldn't afford me even though I made it clear salary wasn't an issue. I don't think the interview went badly, I didn't have any terrible feelings afterward.  Perhaps I've been out of the workforce so long that I am no longer employable in a bad economy. Kix

Kix, I am so sorry about the job.  I really do think that you are  overqualified.  You probably scared the snot out of them, lol.  I just heard on the news this morning that jobs are tough.  You will be a great asset to an employer.   I am looking to try and get into a State job or with the feds.  My job has great benefits, very little work but being 53 if I am going to do something I need to do it soon I do wish you luck.  I know your time is coming. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get this job, Kix.  I think you've got three things working against you:  (1) your overqualified for most of these positions, (2) the economy SUCKS so many people are willing to take less pay just to get any kind of work, and (3) for some reason, it's just harder to find a job when you're aren't already working.  I'm not really sure why #3 is so, but that's always been my experience.   You've also got a lot of things going for you: solid work ethic, good work experience, good interpersonal skills (at least based on your internet presence!), etc.... Are you committed to staying in the Denver area?  If not, have you thought about broadening your search to other areas where you'd consider living?  I'm not sure if other areas have greater need for people with your background and skills, but there may be a need in some of the larger metropolitan areas.  If I see anything in Cleveland, I'll be sure to let you know -  Kellie

I'm so sorry to hear this bad news.  Keep your chin up!  Sometimes these things happen for a reason and hopefully this is one of those cases and it wouldn't have been the best match anyway.  I hope you find something soon.
