tornado N. of Denver
Hi, Kathy S!
Funny you should mention this, I was just going to post about it. I had an oral exam today for a state gig, so I left my house (Lakewood/Morrison area near Red Rocks, for those of you familiar with the area) and headed over to the state health department. The air had a funny feeling that didn't make sense to me, mostly because it felt like "Shake and Bake" weather (my fellow Californians will know what I mean by this). Figuring we don't shake and bake here in CO, I dismissed it as nothing serious.
Anyway, I had my oral exam (I feel like I did my best and wasn't nervous at all, so we'll see how I score) and came out of the building to fierce winds. Nothing tornado-y, but they were really strong. I didn't think anything of it, because we often get strong winds up in my neighborhood. I was heading toward home and called my sister at work to see if she needed to me to stop at Kaiser and pick up her prescription that they keep forgetting to mail, and she said, "Where are you?! Are you driving in the tornado?" Tornado? What tornado? (I was listening to Ed Schulz on the radio and thus wasn't hearing any local news). She said there was a tornado up in Larimer and Weld Counties, and I told her I wasn't in Larimer County (although the wind was blowing dirt in my car because I had the windows rolled down). She insisted I head straight for home (and to be honest, I didn't need an excuse to skip the gym today), so I did. The wind isn't blowing at all in my neighborhood, but as I pulled into the driveway, I heard on the radio that the tornado was quite fierce in Greeley and vicinity, including harsh hailstorms.
Sorry for the long, long post, but things are fine here (except I think I'm trying to dump after drinking my decaf, sometimes Splenda does it to me, or being the nontrusting soul I am, sometimes I think the barista slips and gives me caf instead of decaf).
