Clothes Question

It has been many years (at least 5 or 6) since I have been able to purchase clothes from a store and instead purchased clothes through mail order.  Have any of your post-ops been in this position?  If so, how did you go about making your first post-op clothes purchase?  I would have no idea what size I wore mail order as this clothes is already too big from my pre-op dieting and have little clue what size I am in those clothes and I have to admit I am a bit intimidated by the idea of going to a store and fitting nothing even after losing a significant amount of weight.   I have a few weeks before I have to worry about this but the reason it is on my mind is because my nephew is getting married on June 21st and I truly have nothing to wear and will have to find an outfit.  YIKES!!!!  Any input is appreciated.

I was in exactly the same position.  I was fortunate enough to have a lot of "too small" clothes waiting for me in totes.   What size are your "too big" clothes right now?

My 6X's are starting to float on me.  Unfortunately, as I got bigger I gave my smaller sizes away.  I kind of felt hopeless about ever getting back down to that size so I gave it to charity.

I love Catherine's too.  They go up to 5x.

If you have to do it mail order, take your measurements.  It took a while for me to really drop sizes quickly, about 100lbs.  Don't be afraid to go try things on at the store though, once you feel better.

Congratulations!  I would suggest you start looking now.  Catherine's would be a good way to start.  They are very helpful there.  When I was shopping there they had a lot of customers that were losing weight and unsure of their size.  I can understand your nervousness so start early and have fun.  Loris

I would try Catherine's plus sizes.  I know that I have only lost 25 lbs, but some of my pants were too big, so I needed to go in.  I find that Catherine's is really helpful.  They will do measurements if you need, but you could just go in and try a few things on and see where you are.  They truly are wonderful and will help you.....at least it has been my experience everytime I have been in one of their stores.   Good Luck! Personally, I would wait until you got closer to your date.  Not sure how you carry your weight, but I dropped the top size really quick and the bottom half is hanging on for dear life.  I would hate to see you buy something now and then it be too big when you got ready to wear it.

No Fashion Bugs in the state of Louisiana, so expensive Catherine's it is!  I really just need a few shirts to tied me over.  Today in church I turned and my shirt stayed against the pew and my arm came through sleeve.  If I have that much room, it just can't look flattering on me.  I know - too vain, but I am who I am!
