Clothes Question
It has been many years (at least 5 or 6) since I have been able to purchase clothes from a store and instead purchased clothes through mail order. Have any of your post-ops been in this position? If so, how did you go about making your first post-op clothes purchase? I would have no idea what size I wore mail order as this clothes is already too big from my pre-op dieting and have little clue what size I am in those clothes and I have to admit I am a bit intimidated by the idea of going to a store and fitting nothing even after losing a significant amount of weight.
I have a few weeks before I have to worry about this but the reason it is on my mind is because my nephew is getting married on June 21st and I truly have nothing to wear and will have to find an outfit. YIKES!!!! Any input is appreciated.

If you have to do it mail order, take your measurements. It took a while for me to really drop sizes quickly, about 100lbs. Don't be afraid to go try things on at the store though, once you feel better.
Congratulations! I would suggest you start looking now. Catherine's would be a good way to start. They are very helpful there. When I was shopping there they had a lot of customers that were losing weight and unsure of their size. I can understand your nervousness so start early and have fun. Loris

I would try Catherine's plus sizes. I know that I have only lost 25 lbs, but some of my pants were too big, so I needed to go in. I find that Catherine's is really helpful. They will do measurements if you need, but you could just go in and try a few things on and see where you are. They truly are wonderful and will help you.....at least it has been my experience everytime I have been in one of their stores.
Good Luck!

well I'm not sure where you started but I'm 4 months out and down 178lbs I was 557lbs and now I"m 379lbs and down two sizes---I was in a 6x and now I can buy 4x from walmart---Layne Bryant has plus sizes so does fashion bug plus---it's so nice to be able to buy of the rack for a change--I've vowed to never buy out of a catalog again!!!
No Fashion Bugs in the state of Louisiana, so expensive Catherine's it is! I really just need a few shirts to tied me over. Today in church I turned and my shirt stayed against the pew and my arm came through sleeve. If I have that much room, it just can't look flattering on me. I know - too vain, but I am who I am!
