Nice Surprise!

I received a nice surprise in today's mail.  I have been aching for a metal detector for a couple of years (even though I was housebound at the time).  I'm not housebound now, but on a small disability stipend, metal detectors aren't exactly a "must-have" item.  Well, my sister and her husband, who live in Utah, surprised me with a metal detector!  It came in today's mail, and it looks like a good one, not one of the cheap kind that don't work very well.  I can't wait to try it out, perhaps we have a treasure chest full of loot underneath the grass in the yard!  Sometimes when you think you can't stand your siblings just one more minute, they up and do something extra nice like this! hi kix! how cool is that? i think a metal detector would be quite an entertaining gadget.  if one of my siblings did something that unexpected and nice for me, well, someone would have to pick me up off the ground. have fun with it. deb

We got my uncle one a few years ago - he found giant empty metal tank in on their property - I don't know if he ever found money.  I hope you have lots of fun with it, and its nice to know sometimes siblings are good for something! :)

I work at a historic performing arts theatre and we are undergoing renovation and expansion right now.  It's located in the downtown area.  The theatre was built in 1925.  Anyway, the other day when I was leaving the Y, I saw a huge mountain of dirt under the interstate and there were people all over it with their detectors.  The looked like ants because the pile is so huge.   Somehow we got to talking about the dirt that they had removed to make way for a larger orchestra pit, and I asked him where the dirt went.  That was the huge pile that I saw under the interstate!   They didn't find anything in that dirt though.  I'll bet those guys are expecting to find something.
