YAY
I just wanted to say that 12lb gain post hysterectomy has now left! I am slightly below my lowest weight so far -- must be uterine weight! LOL Actually, my tummy is still quite swollen and it is a challenge to put on regular pants. I've stayed in my pjs most of the time. I did put on regular clothes when I wanted a card for my mom, and John took me to the store.
Hey Jennie -
Glad to hear all went well and the extra weight is off. You know I'm watching you and want ot hear all since I'll be right where you are this time next month.
PJ's sound good to me ...
Best speedy healing wishes being sent your way!
PS - Did you see the other post about you, we all sent you good wishes!
PJ's are nice! I'm spending all day in them, mostly as a reminder to ME and the rest of my family that I'm not up to speed. My plan is to stay in PJ's only for this week, and NEXT week return to regular clothes, and PJ's part of the time!
Recovery has gone fairly well. I'm a bit sore in my tummy - something that my dogs just do not understand. They want to jump up on my lap, and that isn't fun. I have found myself sleeping on my tummy, so it must not be THAT sore! I have to keep reminding myself that I have a 10lb lifing restriction, and that 1 gallon of milk weighs 8lbs!
One thing has helped me is that I prepared some things to do while I was recovering. I like to quilt, and made quilt tops for people at Christmas. I've been working on getting those tops quilted, and now have 3 quilts that need the hand sewing done on the binding. I've been working on that, plus I stocked up on some books to read. I also recorded several episodes of CSI on my DVR to watch with my daughter. I have some other quilts cut out and ready to machine sew for next week when I'm still not able to do as much.
Oh, and get a donut pillow! I don't need it so much now, but it was worth it for those first few days! Even though I didn't have any prolapse or need any reconstructive surgery, I was sore to sit on hard surfaces. It has really helped with hard chairs.
I also arranged meals through my church, and that has been a help as well. I don't have the energy right now to cook, and John doesn't need that extra pressure as well. We have meals coming through Friday of this week. We had one last Friday, and someone brought us lunch on Saturday, my daughter Stephanie and her Finance' made a special dinner on Saturday night, John cooked last night with dd Amanda, and the brought in meals will be this week.
Even though I kept my ovaries, I'm having night sweats and I'm no longer cold. I hope that my ovaries wake up and get over the initial shock of surgery cause I'm not ready for the rest of the menopause symptoms at this point!
I did see the other post, and posted several replies back. Thanks for thinking of me Jan! I really appreciate it.
I can not even imagine what it must be like to be hot again!
I had planned on cooking ahead, and I know the church and others will offer food. I guess I'm just so darn picky now about what I eat that it's hard for me to have others cook. My Mom and MIL will both be cooking and cleaning for us though.
The dogs are something I hadn't thought about until you mentioned it. We have lap dogs too, Great Danes! Guess I'll have to be very careful when they are near.
I only plan to take 2 weeks off work, so hope ll goes well so I can do this. Dr said I should go home that evening if all goes well, (my surgery is first of the day).
Glad to get all your tips though!
Wow Kix, if it was only that simple ...lol!
We feed them raw, and it really isn't all that bad. Much cheaper than dog food, and better for them too. We're belong to a raw feeders group that buys meat in bulk so It cost us about $150.00 (sometimes less) a month to feed both of them. Plus the best part - it looks like we have poodles instead of danes when we have to pick up the poo!
I love the fact that I actually weigh less than my dogs!!
Sounds like you are doing great, Jennie - what a blessing. Enjoy that time in your PJs!!!! Life should have more PJ time, you know? I hope your recovery continues to progress smoothly and that you enjoy having some time to quilt. Would love to see some pictures of your handiwork if you have time! My grandmother was an avid quilter, so I appreciate quilts and similar hand work...
