Another goal accomplished!
I ran my first running race today, a 5 miler that was brutal! It was in the Garden of the Gods (if you have never been there it's a gorgeous place here in Colorado Springs that is right next to the mountains. Huge red rocks, very hilly and a great place to run.)
My goal was to run it under an hour and I came in at 58:45 - woohoo! I ran with a gal for the last mile and she was a big reason why I made it under the hour mark - it was nice having somebody to run with and push each other as the hills kept on coming. It was funny, she said she was trying to pass me the entire race but I was too fast for her - that cracked me up. Me, too fast??? Wow, never thought I would hear that!
I'm REALLY sore and tired and absolutely starving (i have been eating everything in site but I'm still hungry - it's amazing how running makes my appetite skyrocket), but I can live with that. I'm just thrilled I made it within my goal!
That's my third goal to have accomplished. First one was to climb a 14'er (DONE), 2nd was to run an adventure race (DONE) and now I can say I ran a running race (DONE). Wow, who would of thought I would be doing this 2 years ago. this just goes to show you that ANYONE (including all of you!) can do anything you put your mind too.

And when are we going to see you on Everest? What's your next goal?
Way to go, you are awesome. Me running? Bah ha ha ha ha! I'll leave that to you for sure. I'd do a five mile walk though. I could swing that now I think.
Holy cow! I've been to Garden of the Gods, and I can't imagine running it! The weather was probably just right for running, not too hot and not too freezing. Good job on achieving yet another goal. I admire you!
Your next task will be to run up the mountain alongside the Cog Railway. If you do, I will accompany you (on the train, of course).
