I GUESS THAT I AM OLD, CAUSE I CANT READ THE SMALL PRINT ANYMORE.
ANYWAY, I HAD SURGERY ABOUT A YEAR AGO..(MAY 25, 2008)
I AM SUCCESSFULLY KEEPING 155 POUNDS OFF.
I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS LIKE TO HAVE YOUR CLOTHES FALL OFF OF YOUR BODY.
I ONCE WORE A SIZE 5X IN SHIRTS OR PANTS. I DIDNT HAVE MUCH CHOICE OF WHAT TO WEAR. I MADE MOST OF MY OWN CLOTHES.
RECENTLY I FOUND THE NEED FOR SOME CLOTHES THAT FIT....I WENT TO MY LOCAL WALMART AND PURCHASED A SIZE 16-18 BLACK STRETCH PANTS. I HAVE NOT PURCHASED THAT SIZE IN OVER 18 YEARS.
MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS ALL OF THIS EXCESS SKIN. I STOOD IN THE BEDROOM ALL BY MYSELF AND LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND OH MY GOSH, LOOK AT ALL THE SAGGY BAGGY SKIN. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ITCHY SKIN. MY SAGGY BAGGY SKIN HAS AN ITCH TO IT, ALL OF THE TIME.
I HAVE BEEN TO THE DERMATOLOGIST AND HE TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS ALLERGIC TO THE DYES AND FRAGRANCES IN THE LAUNDRY DETERGENTS, AND FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS, BUT AFTER NOT USING THAT STUFF FOR 6 MONTHS, I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT OTHERS DO ABOUT THE SBS
(SAGGY BAGGY SKIN)

Have you been back to your dermatologist to let him/her know that you've tried fragrance free/dye free laundry products and feminine hygiene products, and that you're still having a problem? I have problems with itchy skin sometimes, but it's mostly when I'm in a hurry in the morning and don't take the time to put on lotion. But it sounds like you've got something more going on that just dry skin. Me, I'd go back to the dermatologist and keep working with him/her until we found a solution!!! The only real long-term "cure" for saggy-baggy skin is plastic surgery to have it taken off.... Good luck on your continuing journey!!! Kellie
Hey Thelma, Welcome to the BMI over 50 Board,
My skin itches but for me it was the winter I think? Now that the spring is here it seems to be much better.
But I do itch where my rolls are I got one of those lufa sponges to clean myself with and I use anti bacterial soap and it seams to have cleared up.

Hi welcome to the board! How much fat do you eat each day? Your skin could be dry and itchy if you aren't getting enough healthy fats in your diet - things like olive oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil, avocado, and oily fish contain important components for healthy skin. Oils are high in calories but you should not avoid them completely, like I see a lot of people on OH doing. If you are having any kind of rashes on your extra skin, go to your primary care doc and have them documented in your chart and have pictures taken - it may help get some plastic surgery covered by insurance if you want plastics. The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is yeast or bacteria overgrowth on your skin, that can definitely itch, but I think a dermatologist would have picked up on that. If you seem to have something like that, you may want to look into betadine body wash, also sometimes called surgical scrub, and wash with that sometimes. Maybe now that spring has arrived it will get better, dry skin in winter is very itchy. I hope you find a solution!
All the best, Jenn
THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE SUGGESTIONS:
PERSONALLY, I DONT THINK THAT THE DERMATOLOGIST KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT AND IT TOOK FOREVER TO ACTUALLY GET THE PRESCRIPTION
I HAVE TRIED THE AVENO, AND GONNA LOOK FOR NYSTATIN POWDER.
I HAVE TRIED ALL OF THE YEAST PRODUCTS AND WILL ALSO LOOK FOR MEDICATED BABY POWDER.
THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS.
