salad

 i am thinking of trying chef salad but not sure at 3 mos. out lettice and such is too fibery

Welcome to this forum you will find that everyone is very helpful and very nice!

I was told not to have salad/greens until 4 - 5 months out and we have the same doctor. Check with the nutritionist, maybe she will tell you something different. Congrats on your weight loss you have done fantastic! A whole new person.

At 3 mos out I was allowed cooked greens chewed carefully, and fresh veggies peeled, but not fresh greens.  At 3 mos out though, you won't be able to eat much so if you just focus on the meat and cheese on the chef salad, you'll be fine.  Maybe have one or two small bites of veggies, chewed extremely well, at the very end.  Stay away from things like celery and fresh pineapple still, very fibrous.  The thing they worry about with lettuce is that the flat leaf, if big enough, could lay over your stoma and cover it, or the connection in your intestines and cover it, causing discomfort until it was dislodged. 

Donald, Be very careful!! You, Michelle & I go to the same place & the only difference is I have Dr Clarke - I was told not until at least 6 months!! I go this Tuesday for my 6 month follow up & hopefully they will say that I can try some!! I'll let you know what they say!! I am craving some salad... must be this time of year!!! OHHHHHHHHHH How I miss a nice tossed salad.... But Dr. Clarke say's no way jose' for 6 months.. that is unless you'd like to pay him a nice visit in the Er.. Which I have no intention of doing (knock on wood)...
