Well, all seems to be much better in the nether region.  Sore....but functioning! I'm stocking up on all various remedies and swear as God as my witness I will drink my water and then some!!  I will up my fiber even if I have to eat cardboard.  I will consider a prune or two...notice I said consider.  I will buy stock in the makers of Senakot and MOM.  And I will keep a supply of latex gloves on hand for extreme emergencies. My gosh, what won't we talk about on this board?!?!!?  BUT this is why I luv, luv, luv this place and each of you!!!!!!!!!!!! Jana

Yep, one or two bad bouts of constipation will make you find a routine and stick to it religiously!!!  Hopefully you'll figure out a good routine for yourself now that things are moving again.   Word of warning/advice on MOM - my PCP said not to use it every day as it can lead to a build-up of excess magnesium in our systems.  I'm not sure how true that is for WLS patients, but I took her advice and switched to Miralax.  It works on the same principle as MOM --both are osmotics that draw additional fluids into your bowels -- but does not have the magnesium build-up risk.  I get Miralax by prescription, which is much cheaper than buying it OTC.  Plus, the Miralax is tasteless/odorless and can be mixed with any liquid, so it's literally easier for me to swallow than MOM!   Kellie

My doctor recommended Benefiber...you can get that in any drugstore or Walmart.  Its tasteless so you can add it to water or juice, even oatmeal or mashed potatoes. It truly is tasteless and has no texture either. Daily does of this should help and its natural so it won't hurt you.  Good Luck!  Yes...this board is a place to speak freely and voice ALL your concerns!  HUGS  Jeanine

If you don't like dried prunes, try them fresh.....PLUMS!  They are so yummy and work like prunes.  I just bought a box of them at Costco.....I do not have problems with constipation but I do like a good plum.   Donna Kay
