TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT!  YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . I will spare you the very gory details but on Sunday I had the worst case of constipation AND diarrhea AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!  It was miserable beyond words.  I had THREE Dulcolax suppositories in place and nothing was helping with the stuck/dry-ish poo that was blocking the area - but plenty of oozy poo was making its way around and out. Please share what you do to combat this problem.  Dieter's Tea? Milk of Magnesia (or however you spell it?)? How often? Colace is doing NOTHING!

I'm just here for moral support.  I had two bouts with constipation early on.  The first one was cured with milk of magnesia.  The second one, I cured by accident with an 1 extra York peppermint pattie SF over the normal serving.  Oh the smelliest thing I've ever smelled. The only other thing that I could recommend since you  have blockage near the anus is to try an OTC enema to get that moved out of the way.   MMMM lovely conversation around lunch time! Good luck sweetie!

Hm, it might require a visit to the doctor if you actually have poop blocking the way.  You don't want to get impacted because then they have to dig it out.  I was constipated one time post-op, and I wanted to cry all day.  I took a huge dose of MOM and gave birth to a redwood tree trunk.    Ever since then, I use stool softeners if I think I've eaten something that might turn into concrete in my bowel. You may want to try an enema if its that dry.  Once you get the boulder out (and you may need help if it doesn't pass soon) you'll probably have to experiment to get your "maintenance" formula down.  Here are things that help magnesium pills draw water into bowel lots of water lots of water colace or another stool softener at least 25g of fiber per day lots of water, lots of water Milk of magnesia or miralax are helpful once you are constipated My doc suggested a tbsp of mineral oil or olive oil each day but that's a lot of calories and I dump from oil Glycerin suppositories Here is my formula, which works if I follow it 4 colace daily miralax 2x per week 25-40g fiber per day (include soluble and insoluble fiber) 250mg extra magnesium per day Good luck!

From a nurse's viewpoint....it sounds to me like you aren't drinking enough water...thats why some is passing by the "blockage".  You may have to don a vinyl exam glove and dig out whats blocking the anus.  See...us medical people aren't put off by graphics LOL.  I would have to know what you are eating to asses what changes need to be made.  You can also massage the anus with some mineral oil...bu****er and exercise is usually the prescription for constipation. If nothing works, be sure & call your doctor.  HUGS  Jeanine

You poor thing.  I have yet to dip my toes into the welcoming waters of wls, so I wish I had some knowledge to pass on.  I just want to say that I'm sorry you're not feeling well.  I hope you never get that stuck again.  Take care.

Be safe and well, B.B.
