My biggest, biggest, biggest suggestion is not to bring too much!   Here's my list: slippers chapstick stretchy, non-binding outfit to wear home (cotton t-shirt dress would be awesome) you'll not want      anything around your incision areas I brought a pretty gown and robe with me to get out of my hospital gown - I felt like the queen of the      floor walking in my gown when everyone else had their hospital greens on toothbrush toothpaste deoderant underclothes book / magazine to read lotion that was about it.  I wish you luck and I will say prayers for you and your doctor on Friday morning!  You will be just fine.  Would you have someone post on here that you are doing ok?

As little as possible!! I was only in the hospital overnight. I used my cell phone and chap stick, that's it. I wore in what I wore home, slip on shoes as well. The most important thing I thought - a pillow to hold in front of you for the way home. It helped with any little bumps encountered along the way! Best wishes to you as you begin your journey!

Here's what I took/recommend - cell phone ipod glasses/glasses case if you wear them I'd recommend some baby wipes for quick sponge baths, you feel grubby and morphine makes a lot of people sweat, and so will the walking most likely because you're all loopy and weird - they are also really nice for cleaning the nethers - they really were my best hospital accessory toothbrush/toothpaste - didn't let me brush in first 24 hrs though, nothing in mouth you might swallow first time around was too drugged for reading but second time around (lucky me) I read several books - most likely you won't want to read but maybe a mag if you are a reader by nature wear comfy clothes in and the same ones back out, slip on shoes unless you want someone else to tie them for you change of underwear if any danger of period bring your own pads, hospital ones are horrid chapstick deodorant spirometer when/if they give you one hairbrush (I had the WORST knot in the back of my hair from being in bed all the time!)  Less is definitely more, if you get bored just press the morphine button and zonk out :P You can always ask  a visitor to bring something if you need it and you might want to leave a pillow in the car for your ride home (to hold to your tummy)

Sweetie im so excited for you.. i took a gown and housecoat to wear when i walked. chap stick and cough drops my own little bottle of shampoo and body wash.my own toothbrush and toothpaste .HAIRBRUSH. You will be nervous and thats normal. But once you awake from surgery its a whole new beginning for you and worth everything. Put your faith in the hands of the drs and you will be fine.

Woohoo!  I didn't take much at all, and that's what I'd recommend.  I wore hospital attire while I was there, and just wore home what I wore to the hospital.  I had chapstick, which was nice to have, and took a small portable radio because I like to sleep listening to music.  Oh, I also took some bathing wipes, which I was grateful to take since the nurses couldn't be bothered to help me shower.  Since your surgery will be uneventful, don't plan on staying too long.  Just get up and walk around, breathe into your huffer-puffer device, and you'll be surprised how quickly you go home.  Kix

You've gotten great ideas on what to take.  I took my laptop with me.  I stayed three nights because I was self-pay and a three night stay is built into the price and I figured I wanted my money's worth!! LOL  By the afternoon of the second day I was cruising all over the net...pretty darned bored. My biggest concern right after surgery was where was the morphine pump button.  I remember them handing it to me and telling me to hit the button when I felt pain - I stuck the button in between my boobs so I wouldn't lose it!!!!!  I made the mistake of willingly getting out of bed really soon after surgery and they only let me have one little bag of morphine...told me that I was doing sooo well, I didn't need anymore.  Darn it! LOL I took some DVDs with me and requested a DVD player.  It was fun. In any event, best of luck to you.  We'll be thinking of you and wishing you well.  You go girl, it's your birthday!!!!!!! Jana
