Hello everyone,  I have been lurking for a couple of months on this forum and the Oregon forum and thought I would finally introduce myself.  I need to lose a ton of weight and have decided to get the RNY.  I have sent in my application and medical records and was just told today they were going in for review.  So I thought it was about time I participated instead of just lurked.  I get so inspired from these boards and seeing before and after pictures, etc. and have learned so much about reading the experiences you all go through.    I can't wait to have the surgery myself and finally start losing weight and keeping it off.   I have to do a six month supervised diet first though, so hopefully sometime in the fall I can get my surgery approved and be scheduled.  Anyway, I hope to be getting to know you all and I know I will continue to get a wealth of information from you.   Linda

Hello Linda, what a pretty dog!  My favorite family dog ever was a giant cuddle muffin yellow lab named Butch.  I have extremely fond memories of him from childhood, and your puppy looks a heck of a lot like him :) Welcome to the boards, I'm glad you came out of lurkdom and I'm sure everyone else will warmly welcome you also (after the weekend, we usually have a very inactive board during the weekend).  I can't wait to hear all about your progress and preparation!  Best of luck! Hi Jenn,  Thank you for the welcome and for the compliment on my dog.  Her name is Hayley, she is four.  She looks kinda wide in the picture after I downloaded.  The actual picture she doesn't look so wide.  I kinda feel like I know you a little bit from my lurking, lol.  I've read a lot of your posts.  You look great and your weight loss is amazing.   Thanks again!   Linda

Sometimes if you avatar picture isn't perfectly square (100x100pixels) OH will stretch it to make it square - that's why she looks wide.  I didn't figure she actually was, as I've seen lots and lots of labs in my time (my aunt has had 10 or so in my life, Butch was hers) I would love to have a dog, husband is resistant and its not doable in our current apartment situation anyway.  Thanks for the compliments (my weight loss is actually pretty average or a touch slow so that can give you hope of doing even better ) All the best, Jenn

Hi again Jenn,  I think your weight loss is great, it doesn't look slow.  You've lost 145 in less than a year?  I hope I can do that.   Thanks for the tip on the avatar size.  I will remember that next time.   Take care,  Linda

Hi Amber!  It's so nice to meet you too.  I've read your story and you're great girl!!  I'm sorry your insurance excludes WLS.  There are some companies that will loan money for surgery.  I don't know if you can do that or not but might be worth a try.   Hang in there though... if there's a will, there's a way.   Take care,  Linda

Hi Linda!!  Welcome to the boards.  I've found a lot of support and answers here.  It's so easy to come here to find answers at 2am or lunchtime, when doctor's offices aren't available.  Good luck on your 6 month diet and your surgery.  It will be here before you know it!! Muggle

Linda -  Welcome! I'm so proud of you! One thing I noticed right away is that you put your weight in your ticker, that's a very hard thing to do when your heavy and to me it's one of the first steps in accepting and wanting to change. It took me along time to be able to put those numbers up, I was ashamed of my weight. The very best of wishes to you as you begin your journey!!
