Hey everyone! I have been reading the posts here since July of last year and decided it was high time I joined in.  I post mainly on the NC forum, but I have a BMI of 51, so sometimes I feel "out of place", I feel like the biggest one there.  LOL  I had my RNY 4 weeks ago yesterday and have lost 41 lbs. to date.  That just amazes me!  I am 36,  married to Dave and we have a 6 year old named Colby.  I have all the lovely co-morbidities that go along with my weight...sleep apnea, HBP, my blood sugar was high, and my cholesterol was getting close to being out of whack.  I had the surgery so that I could watch my son grow up and grow old with my husband.  Life is too short to be miserable. I can't tell you how much you have all inspired me..I have read this forum daily, and I just wanna shout to the rooftops...these people "get me!!"   So I hope it is o.k. that I officially join in, I'd love to make some new friends!!! Come on in, Kim, the water's fine!  Congrats on your recent surgery and the 41 pound loss; way to go.   I think those of us that start out with higher BMIs face a somewhat different journey, which is part of why this is my favorite forum:  I fit in here and people get me.  Plus, it's super supportive and non-judgmental.  So welcome, and I look forward to getting to know you Kellie

Kim, Great to meet you.  You are right, starting out with a BMI of 50+ does make things different.  The other folks (those under 50 guys), they have a journey too, but our path just started out a little steeper. Take care, Shirley

Kim, welcome!   Most of my local sisters are a lot lighter than me and just don't understand the struggles that we go through at the higher BMI.  There are people who are close to their goal weight and have lost as much weight as I have at 5 months out. There's also some bickering going on around my surgeon's site and I choose not to participate in it.  There's no bickering here, just lots of love and support. Kathy
