Jenn you really sound like you are on the mark!! I have not been eating very well these last couple of days. A week ago Sat I spent the day cooking so I and hubby had nice meals to eat for dinner and to take for lunch all week. But this past weekend we left for Balto for the weekend. Sunday nite was a party to celebrate my Aunt's 98th birthday WOW!! We had chinese. The only thing I liked was the edame. Everything else tasted too sweet. And I didn't really eat well the entire weekend. I was busy and didn't eat enough.
So I left work yesterday and went to the supermarket, 2 of them as a matter of fact. I got home around 7:30 and David had dinner and after that I went to work.
I made chili, a vat of chicken soup with celery, carrots and onions and of course chicken, 2 meatloafs, 2 chuck roats, crock pot beef stroganoff and crock pot beef stew. What the hell was I thinking??? Oh yeah, I also took a can of cashew pieces and spread them on a cookie sheet, put a bit of melted butter on them and coated them with splenda and cinnimon. Oh my!!!
I barely had room in the refrigerator for all of it, I was up till 1:30am and then again at 5:30 to finish up.
But I have a lot of great nurishing foods to eat.
So what am I having today-you will laugh
I had 2 cheese sticks for breakfast and an achieve high protein drink. I am in an all day meeting and we are having pizza (oh noooooooooooooooooooo) and salad for lunch.
For dinner I will have one of the many things I made. Probably the chicken soup. I have been having a real craving. The soup has nice hunks of chicken breast in it.
I will need another protein drink/bar to make my protein goal.

Wow, busy lady! I can't imagine how many dishes you had to wash!
Well, I'm unhappy at the scale today., I'm sick of it bouncing back and forth. I also have PMS today, which really sucks. When menopause finally hits me, I will embrace it with open arms.
I ate the last bunch of microwave bacon (4 strips) and the last two slices of faux bread (45 calorie per slice wheat bread tastes like wheat flavored sponge). I really do prefer my EAS drinks or Instone pudding for breakfast, and I'm getting ready to seriously limit my carbs yet again. I just don't lose weight if I eat more than a minimum amount of carbs. Sigh.
Lunch today will mostly likely be protein drinks because we are having Chinese food tonight.

I bought this bread - little mini slices from pepperidge farms - 3 slices is a serving, 110 calories, whole grain. They are thin and small but kind of dense, 2 of them for a sandwich solves my bread craving easily. We were buying bread just for husband but we ended up throwing it out a lot so I thought this small package might work better. You might want to try it?
Anyway, don't be too hard on yourself. You got bad news last week and you handled it with aplomb and control, you should be proud of yourself.
PS Which EAS drinks do you use? I am finding that I can actually drink the RTD myoplex. First protein shake since surgery that has stayed down. Its awfully sweet though, and leaves a weird stickiness on my mouth. I have a hard time finishing it sometimes.
I use the EAS AdvantEdge low carb RTD drinks, they come in different flavors (I usually get either the rich dark chocolate or the dutch chocolate). 110 calories, 17g protein. I think the others have more sugar than I'm willing to drink, or some other reason why I went for the low carb version. They also make AdvantEdge protein bars. I tried one today (cookies and cream) which kind of reminded me of a Big Hunk candy bar. It has too many sugar alcohols for me, though, because I'm making all sorts of rude farting sounds. I think it will have to be a "once in a blue moon" treat rather than something in the regular rotation.

The myoplex 17oz shakes have 2g of sugar, not sure how much sugar alcohol. They have 42g of protein though, so that's why I tried one. They are decent, just large and sometimes hard to finish because they have a sticky aftertaste. As far as the bars, eas makes a really good one called chocolate chocolate chip. I liked that one a lot! Possibly too much to have around on a regular basis. Sugar alcohols don't bother me too bad, unless I have quite a lot. My main points when looking at bars or shakes now are 1. how much protein 2. how much sugar 3. how much fiber. If it doesn't have enough fiber to make it worthwhile I don't bother trying it. (The Atkins peanut nougat caramel bars are good, and have 9g fiber!)
Finally calming down after major stuff going on at the house for the last week. We had workers there all week, painting the outside, and various other things. Most of these guys are friends so I've been cooking and feeding everyone. We're also redecorating the inside, and I'm in heaven.
We went from 98 degree weather this weekend, to a high of 68 today, so weird!
