My 3 month postop appointment
Went Magnificently.... To say the least.. General disclaimer.. The informatoin here is as it relates to me personally, each of us are individuals & our surgeons may have differing opinions..
So lets's see.... As of today I am down officially 72.1 lbs.. YEAAAAAH.. I'm seeing #s on the scale that I've truly never seen before. I am doing great and am right on target. He would recommend that I .. Oh brace yourself for this one.. Start adding 3-4 days of a minimum 30 minute cardio workout into my schedule. His rationale is that it's easier to add it now and have it become a part of my daily routine that to try to add it when I start to plateau. So basically my big b__t needs to get it'self back on the all mighty eliptical.. LOL Guess my walking just isn't enough.. Dang..
Breakfast.. I am not a breakfast person because I get up so dang early. I can't even think about food for at least a few hours. Now keep in mind, I'm up usually around 4:30, at work by 6 at the latest. Who on earth can think about eating at 4:30 in the morning. Not even the birds are eating then.. His thoughts were.. As long as I'm getting in my 3 meals a day with no snacking between he is very happy with that. Now don't get me wrong, I don't completely avoid breakfast.. I'll usually eat it somewhere between 6:30 & 8, lunch is usually at noon and then dinner between 4 & 5:30. He was very happy with that. He doesn't seem to see any 'convincing testimony' that eating within 1 hour of when you get up 'kick-starts' your metabolism.. Phewwww I did not want to start gagging down food before sunrise.
Oh here's another thing.. My b/p has been low.. well, to me low.. To him the word he used was 'ideal'.. Yesterday it was 112/ 63.. A month ago it was 110/ 60.. So he would like me for the next 2 weeks to take only 1/2 a tab of my b/p med and then after the 2 weeks stop taking it all together. WHOO HOO.. Never thought I would see that day. He just doesn't want me to stop it cold turkey so that I don't have any side effects from that..
I can not believe that my surgery was almost 3 months ago.. Time sure flies when your having fun... And yes, I already have a call into a local gym to get some info on their personal trainers.. :)
Hugs everyone and thank you ALL for your support..

I think the thing about walking is that you aren't as conscious to keep your rate up where it needs to be to elevate your heart rate and the treadmill or elliptical does that for you. I was never so excited not to have to take a diabetes pill or HBP pill in my life. It's amazing what this surgery does for you! Congratulations on your success!
Wow, wow, wow, Lisa!!! That's all such great news - amazing journey, yes? The loss is great, the drop is BP is great, your food plan sounds like you're doing all the right things. Way to go!!!!
I'll second your doctor's advice on bumping up your exercise. I started going to the gym about 2-3 months after my surgery and have been going regularly since then. For about the first 12 months I went because I knew I should, but I did not like it much. I thought about it like I think about taking my daily supplements; it something I committed to do when I had WLS and it was mandatory, not optional. I really feel better when I exercise regularly, so over time I've actually come to enjoy exercising. Nay, I actually look forward to exercising and am sad on the rare day when I cannot fit it in my schedule. Plus, I workout a lot, which burns off a lot of calories, which means I can eat more than many post-ops. Works for me because dang it, I still love food!!!! So kudos, kudos, kudos on your great project - bump up that exercise and your doc will do the dance of joy with you at your next follow-up appointment!!! Lots of positive energy coming your way - Kellie
