Gym is Open (Thursday 4/10)
Struggled to get through 45 minute elliptical this morning. Energy level not the best this morning but I finished it soaking wet. I only did 20 minutes on the random hill program and then switched to a manual. I did keep in step with the fast music that I was listening to so that my heart rate stayed at the cardio level except for the last five minutes.
One good thing, the put new blow dryers in the locker room. I was psyched!
well I tried to exercise this morning, I actually managed 20 mins on the dreadmill before the lights went poof...... and then I got to sit in the lobby with the security guards and other people who straggled in for 2 and a half hours...... let me tell you, taking a shower by the single spot emergency light was loads of fun.... it's probably a good thing I don't normally wear makeup, that would have been really fun to put on in the dark..... LOL

No gym for me today, which actually makes me a little sad. I've got a team training activity that runs from noon to 4:30 p.m., then happy hour with my co-workers afterwards. Then I want to stop at the hospital for a few minutes to visit a friend that just had a bouncing baby girl, then I need to stop at the grocery store for a few things. And then when I get home, we need to move furniture around, as we have some new stuff being delivered tomorrow and need some place to put it!!! Sigh - going to the gym sounds much better than all of this (well, except happy hour), but it's all necessary. I am already looking forward to hitting the gym tomorrow, and doing my full strength training routine one day this weekend -

I ended up skipping the gym last night. I got home at about 8 and was just ready to drop. I was so exhausted all day yesterday. But the good news is, I slept HARD - 12 hours basically without waking up. My body has done this number once or twice a month since surgery, usually when I am about to lose a chunk of weight, so fingers crossed.
I am definitely, without a doubt, 100% going to the gym today. I'll do cardio and a circuit or two of strength training as was planned for yesterday.
Morning Kix!
I was able to get back into the pool last Tuesday, and taught Aqua-fit on Tuesday and today. We did an hour of intense cardio, but muscle toning today. We started out with a brisk 5 lap jog and went from there.
My classes are happy that I'm back after a 2 week absence due to my having an endometrial ablation. The downside was that I had to tell them that I will be here this week and next week, and then I'm going on vacation with my mom to Nashville and Paducah, Kentucky for the big American Quilt Society Quilt show. I will be gone 10 days. Then I will be able to teach for 1 week when I come home, then I will have a hysterectomy on May 7th. This will keep me out of the pool at least 6 weeks. I am looking at having a lower body lift and breast lift at the end of June - tentative date of June 28. Kaiser will pay for the breast lift and the panni removal part of the LBL, and I have to pay the difference of $16,000. My parents have given me most of that, so my out of pocket expense will be $4,000. My COBRA with Kaiser runs out in November, so I want to get as much of that done as possible and be well healed by the time I have to change to Blue Cross under my husbands new work plan. The plastic surgeons in my Kaiser region didn't know what to do with my excess skin, and gave me a hard time. I asked for another opinion, and was told that Kaiser West LA will do more extensive plastics if you pay the extra. I've had 2 consults there - the first doctor agreed that my breast lift was a covered benefit and that Kaiser would pay for that due to the extreme rashes. He would do an extended Tummy Tuck, but doesn't do the LBL or belt lipectomy, only 1 doctor does that there. I saw him on Monday of this week.
All 3 of the plastic surgeons that I've seen have agreed that even though I'm slightly above the 30BMI, I have NO MORE FAT TO LOSE! You have NO idea how good that sounds. They all agree that I'm very muscular, and that I only have the small amount of fat needed to keep my skin healthy and alive. They all commented on the well developed abdominal muscles that they could feel under the skin, and said that is unusual in most of their patients. When asked how I did that and what am I doing to workout, I could smile and say AQUAFI****ER AEROBICS at an INTENSE level! YAY AQUAFIT! I had to share that with my class today during our ab routine -- as people were groaning! I hope that will encourage us to KEEP WORKING OUT to prepare for those plastics.
Kix, I would try and weigh on a scale that determines your body fat % late in the afternoon, when you are well hydrated and see how much extra fat you really have. They will waive that bmi for those who are lower body fat, and my guess is that might be you as well. My legs look really, really sad, and like I could lose more on them, but I don't know if that will ever happen. I have large calfs, and I think they will always be large. The way the skin pools around my knees makes them look fatter as well, so some of that may be an illusion and you might have less to lose than you think.
At this time, they are estimating that 15 or so pounds will come off my midsection with the body lift and about 1lb of skin from my breasts in the breast lift. I will go from a DDD with lots of extra skin to a C with tightness, and no implants. All 3 surgeons have said that the inner thighs are the toughest to do, and the highest risk of tissue death and poor results. My inner thigh area looks really, really sad, and I would like to do them, but their comments have me rethinking.
Anyway, just wanted to update on what's been going on with me.
