The gym is open.  I'll be burning calories today, plus I need to finish my strength training.  I'm not feeling the love of exercising this week, not sure why.  I usually enjoy it more than this.  Oh, and if the pool is properly heated, I'll be attending an aquacise class with my sister. What did you do to move your body today? Kix

I'm not sure exactly what I'll do today.  I'm meeting with the exercise specialist who helped me tweak my workout routine earlier this year to update my plan.  I want to learn more about how to use the free weights for upper body strength training, plus I'd like to learn the proper form for additional lower body work (squats, lunges, etc.).  Finally, I bought a set of resistance bands for home and I've asked her to help me develop a basic routine using the bands, so I can do some strength training at home on the weekends.  So what I do today will depend on what she teaches me!  If I have time and energy after I've finished my session with the exercise specialist, I'll do some cardio too.   Kellie

What did you end up doing today?  I'm also curious to hear how the exercise specialist changed up your routine. Kix

Just finished a 45 minute interval training on the elliptical.  I really didn't want to do it and planned on hopping over to the cross trainer at 30 minutes but some older guy got on there just before I was reaching 30 minutes.  I guess God wanted me to do my full 45 minutes. Needless to say, I sweated my butt off while doing it and I feel great now.

Don't you just hate it when that happens?  I've learned to sprint like a gazelle as well as reading other people's body language when someone is using a machine I want to use.  I will climb over you to get to it!  45 minutes on the elliptical is outstanding! Kix

Well I am glad I waited for the trainer before I played on some of those machines - they are just bizarre!  I did a circuit of weight machines - its ridiculous how much stronger my legs are than my t-rex arms that can barely lift anything on the lowest weight on the machine.  I also did 25 minutes treadmill - 10 minute warm-up before weights and then 15 minutes after.  I thought about doing another circuit but I was quite tired, and don't want to be too sore.   She was nice enough, but I liked the trainer we used before a lot better.  He was more aware of health in general - she is more of a gym rat, but that's not a bad thing.

Do you have the "butt blaster" machine at your gym?  We have one at Ballys and I tried using it today, but as I cannot kneel on my knees, I couldn't make it work.  Too bad, I could use a shapely behind instead of the no-behind I currently have.  My underwear droops in the buttissimo area.  Your arm strength will build up quickly if you do your upper arm work regularly (not every day).  It didn't take me long to progress.  My trainer at Ballys was a gym rat, but a nice guy.  In fact, he's so nice that he always came over to chat while I was working out (and I hate that, I'm not there to socialize), so I had to switch and go to another Ballys so I could get some peace!  Kix

No butt blaster but there is this bizarre contraption you climb up on (its about 12 feet tall) and then you get on you knees on a platform and do pull-ups - you set the counter balance to whatever % of you weight you don't want to lift.  My husband did that one but I am too short and too intimidated with the idea of being 6 feet off the ground.  And I also don't really kneel on my knees for long - hoping that will improve as I lose more weight.  It only hurts not instead of being excruciatingly impossible like it was at 440.  I need to try the elliptical again.  I asked her about the tread climber and she didn't know but thought perhaps I was too heavy and it was treating me like I was running on it.  She said she has a lady at about 270 that has a similar problem to mine, and she was going to look into it. I forgot to add I also did squats at the gym - leaning against the balance ball on the wall - 20 of them.
