Wearing a 24/26 - do you think I'll fit in the airplane seat?

Think positive...I suspect it will be alright.  Last time I was in an airplane was last April and I was about 280 lbs.  I was mortified that I had to ask for the seat belt extender but the flight attendant was very nice & discreet about it.  Most of the time I would tuck the belt under my leg and pretend it was clasped. I remember the shame and humiliation I felt.  I am flying again this coming August and I expect it will be a totally different experience, as it will be for you!!! I've done that too, hiding the fact that the belt wasn't fastened.  Real safe eh?

Oh dont worry about that. Like everyone else said you will fit fine. I went to visit my family in August and I was weighing 315 lbs then and I even had my 6 month old with me in the chair! It was on Southwest and the plane was packed! PLUS I had a huge diaper bag to hold. Of course the seat belt didnt fit but I had to hide that with my baby... Sad.

Thanks everyone for reassuring me.  Hopefully I'll be past the seatbelt extender need by then too, but if not I can handle that.  Its a long flight and I will be less anxious about it now I think. 

Back in February I flew from College Station to Houston (no seatbelt extender needed) and Houston to Mobile (seatbelt extender needed). No real clue as to why the seats on the Houston/Mobile leg were narrower and had shorter belts, but that was the breaks. I weighed about 260 then. I weigh 246 now so I would probably fit.

June 1-5 for a conference - It'd be great to meet you.  I am not too sure about my schedule yet but I think I will have every evening except the 4th available (going to Fenway).  Are you far from Boston?
