OK, you even got me Kix!! ;) We plan on walking tonight - went after dinner the other night, took the dogs and walked for 45 minutes ... try walking with two Great Danes and a hubby that's 6'3" when your 5'3" - I was running at one point! Hubby said well, now you don't have to be a show off! Bad thing when we got home, my BS was 53!  It had only been an hour since eating dinner

I love Great Danes!  I can't imagine walking them, though, that certainly counts as exercise!  Do you usually have problems with your blood sugar? Kix

I tell ya, this day is rife with jokers - people have been hitting me all day with various stuff. I do love this day and usually do something myself  but haven't had time today. Maybe I'll get my mom tonight I got up bright and early this morning for my first full workout at 24 hour fitness - so far I love this place! It is brand new and in great condition and the people are a riot. Last night they were cracking jokes all night over the speakers for everyone to hear - you can tell they have fun there. And my trainer was terrific, really knew what he was doing and helped me at least get started on the weights. I think I made a good decision! (that's my review Kix - I didn't love Ballys when I went to it, I think the atmosphere was a little bit different. This place is fun!) Anyway, I ran 3 miles today and I am really feeling it - it's been about a week since I ran and what a difference a week makes. Last night I tried the big stairmaster (the ones with ACTUAL stairs) and I LOVED IT! Wow, what a great way to get in shape for climbing. I was zooming along, beating the hot stud next to me (who looked like he was about to pass out) - got to tell ya, that made me feel good , a nice ego boost! I am slowly getting out of my funk, the exercise certainly did help. Also getting a little bit more settled helped - mom and I are getting into a rhythm and I think this will be good for both of us.

We have a 24 Hour Fitness nearby, but when I went to check it out, it looked depressing and like it was on the verge of closing.  (I should have checked out the 24 Hour Fitness Express as well, I just now remembered one opened not too far from here, so it's new).  Yours sounds like great fun!  Now that I've been going to Bally's for a bit, I have mixed feelings, but it still gives me a better strength training circuit than I was getting at the rec center, so I'll stick it out for the duration.  I would love to try the actual stair machine, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get it going -- I climb on and start pusing buttons, but nothing happens.   Glad to hear you are getting settled in!   Kix

I've been to a couple of 24 Hour ones that were the same way - kind of old and worn out. But I really lucked out with this one, it's a great place and very convenient. And I love that all types of people are there: small, big, etc. The entire "Biggest Loser" is a big deal there, they really focus on getting people started, weight loss, etc.I got lucky!

Did x2 20 minute sessions on my recumbant bicycle today.  Burned approx 400 calories.  Wanted to try to get in a bit on the treadmill (this is slow coming) but I ended up arguing with insurance for over an hour and ran out of time. -dawn

It's just that my "directive" from the MD was 60 minutes per day.  Since I'm not back to work yet (go back Thursday!!!), I kinda feel like a failure that I'm not doing 60 minutes.  But thanks for giving me some perspective -dawn

I went to the rec center and did 240 calories worth of cardio (200 on the in-line skating machine and 40 on the elliptical).  I don't like doing my cardio that late in the day, but I wanted to try the new aqua fitness class.  The pool was f%*^(^ cold, 83 degrees!  The pool is usually 93-94 degrees, but something was wrong with the heater today.  I liked the class a lot, but I had to leave after 30 minutes (it's an hour class) because I couldn't take the cold any more.  I started getting muscle cramps.  The teacher said the pool she teaches her morning classes at is much colder than the pool was today.  I told her, "But we're p(uss)ies, that's why we come to the warm pool!"  Everyone laughed.  I wasn't the only one who was freezing, the other folks from the 5 PM class who attended this class instead were also shivering. I'm really worn out today. Kix
