Grandma Marge, that has a nice little ring to it, doesn't it?   Congrats! I spent my Easter in an extremely untraditional way, climbing Mt Elbert. It's the highest mountain in Colorado at 14,450 feet and it humbled me yesterday. No summit for me, the winds were 40 mph and with the snow it made it just miserable.  On top of that I got some high altitude sickness and had some odd symptoms that included me falling asleep while I was hiking back down - I actually fell down a couple of times because I had fallen sound asleep. Bizarre! Despite that I had a great time and went with some terrific people who all decided to have our own Easter meal at a local Mexican food restaurant. Not a bad way to spend Easter. I'm pretty much at the same weight as I was two weeks ago -you would think that climbing 10 miles and 4000 vertical feet would lose me a few pounds but it never happens that way. I think my body pretty much likes this weight. surgery weight: 371 weight two weeks ago: 168 today: 168 I'm still recovering from my climb yesterday - I'm sitting here feeling a bit like a zombie. The nice thing about spending a day climbing is you can eat anything you want and not gain a pound.

WOoohoooooooo Thats awesome news about a new grandspecial on the way!!  I'm not sure if there's any more in my future or not. LOL  Anyway, we had a nice Easter with my 83 yr. old parents, my sister & her DH and my brother.  We went out to eat. I had a seafood casserole which I could only eat about 1/8 of...so I have a few more meals from that. Its nice to be able to go out and order something off a menu.  I was in the mood for turkey, but no such luck.  The weight is coming off a little slower now it seems, but OFF is good!  HUGS to all....Jeanine Starting Weight:  284 Surgery Weight: 252 Last Week:  197 This Week: 195

Cool Marge, Congrats on the new grandbaby you've got cookin' :) My easter was untraditional too - I canceled the plans we had and we went to Mimi's cafe instead.  I had a small slice of carrot bread, some chicken breast, fruit, and a green salad.  I had lots more to take home, which I snacked on throughout the day.  Then we hiked for a couple of hours, and after which hubby was ravenous (he carried my camera bag) so went for Chinese food - I had some soup, an egg roll, and a little bit of rice. I did get in to the candy slightly, a handful of jelly beans and a peep.  As far as weight loss, I had a very active week - I exercised 5 out of 7 days, trying to get under 300, but the scale didn't move until this morning.  I'm close, but no cigar Starting weight - 440 Surgery weight - 405 Last week - 302.6 This week - 301.4 (-1.2lbs)

You know Marge, its weird.  If I am going to have candy (which I have on occasion) I only have a little and only after a meal or I will also dump like a truck.  Actually for me fruit has been the culprit of about 90% of my dumping episodes - apples and grapes mainly, I seem to handle bananas, which are sweeter, fine & melon, strawberries, mango, and oranges have yet to be a problem.  My other dumping episodes are totally not explainable by sugar, except maybe for the onion soup incident.  Some of them could be fat related (I do dump to a lesser degree on fat) but some of them, like fat-free canned veggie soup (4g sugar) I can't explain at all.  My eating issues were for sugar and bready things, but the sugar was mainly in chocolate form.  I can pass on or control my portion of other sweets without too much trouble.  I am trying for the "everything in moderation" lifestyle - but through experience certain items are dangerous to have around - most crackers, tortilla chips, any bready item besides whole grain sliced bread - those are the ones I can't control well enough for my comfort.
