Hi people
Well before I get down to business I just have to whine. My scale is playing evil games with me. I got on it this morning and it said 294.4!?!?!? I did not believe it, I did not lose 8 lbs. So I weighed again, several times - 294, 292, 294. Ok... move the scale, maybe its not on a good surface and it looks like Ryan dripped on it after his shower. Moved the scale. 296. Holy crap, is this real?
Nope. I moved it again, and reset it because I did not believe it. 302 Still.
So what are you eating today? I want a rueben wicked bad but will not have one because its all in my head. I'm about to have some coffee with milk and will probably make a chicken quesadilla for lunch. I don't know about dinner, but I am definitely tracking calories today.

Scales suck! They like to mess with our heads I do think.
Eggface posted a killer looking Ruben recipe, you should check it out, sounds easy enough.

Mmmm fresh tortillas.. as much as I like the whole grain mission plus! tortillas, they don't taste the same as a nice fresh white tortilla. I will look for that eggface recipe, thanks!
I bought some unbaked tortillas at Lazy Acres, my hubby loves anything in a tortilla. I hear Costco carries them sometimes too.
So I was fixing his breakfast and had fixed him one, decided I wanted one, of course grouchy pouchy didn't agree (yeah for the pouch) so he ate the rest, but the few bites I had were so yummy, and worth it!

Most of our grocery stores carry them uncooked like that too. I've only had about 1/4 of a flour tortilla from a restaurant since surgery and it did not settle well at all, too heavy and gummy. It turned into cement or something inside me. The whole grain ones don't seem to do that though. Like you, I was glad pouchy was grouchy, but that doesn't mean I don't miss them. I used to make my own tortillas every now and again, usually for huevos rancheros as a Sunday brunch. Actually, this conversation made me decide to make huevos for dinner tonight (except with corn tortillas instead).

Ok I laid out my meal plan for the day - unfortunately I am out of mootopia and only have regular 2% organic milk, so my milk calories are higher and my protein is lower than usual from milk. Sadness.
B - 8oz coffee, 8oz 2% milk, 2 tsp benefiber, 1 tsp sugar free vanilla syrup, ice
S - 1/2 quesadilla (1 mission whole grain plus tortilla, 1/4c cheese (mozz cheddar mix), 1.5 oz leftover grilled chicken breast)
L - Lean cuisine stuffed three cheese rigatoni bowl, 1.5oz leftover grilled chicken breast
S - 8oz coffee, 8oz 2% milk, 2 tsp benefiber, 1 tsp sugar free vanilla syrup, ice
D - huevos rancheros - 1 egg fried in a non-stick pan with a tiny bit of grapeseed oil, 1 corn tortilla, 1/4 red chile sauce, 1/4c green chile, 1/8c cheddar, 4 pieces of centercut bacon

Evil scale is a tease!!!! But you will get a real 299 before you know it - I have faith!!!
The first two days of my modified pouch test went fine - survived two day of liquid protein and things involving milk (coffee, non-fat latte, etc.). Dropped 12 pounds in two days, which I'm sure was mostly water weight - I felt like someone had hooked me up to a garden hose and turned it on full blast! I feel much better since I'm not carting around all that extra fluid.
I went back to "real" food today, but using soft proteins for the day, plus some high-fiber cereal to keep things from getting bound up! Anyway, here's what's on my plate today -
Breakfast: 1 cup 1% milk in my coffee, 2 hard boiled eggs
Snack #1: 2 hard boiled eggs and 2 tbsp. light mayo made into egg salad, 1 large piece of leaf lettuce (rolled egg salad up in leaf lettuce and knoshed away)
Snack #2: 1 cup skim milk, 1/3 b. Kellogg's AllBran Buds (13 grams of fiber!)
[workout #1: lower body strength training, core work]
Lunch: 6 oz. pouch of salmon, tossed with lemon juice, salt and pepper; 2 large pieces of leaf lettuce (again, rolled salmon up in leaf lettuce and knoshed away)
Snack #3: venti non-fat latte with sugar-free vanilla syrup
Snack #5: planning to try a grilled herb marinade ahi tuna steak (in a pouch by Chicken of the Sea); I don't like canned tuna, so am hoping this is different enough that I can handle it. if not, I've got more egg salad...
[workout #2: 50-60 minutes of cardio]
Snack #6: Depending on how I feel after working out, I may eat a protein bar.
Dinner: 6 oz. baked tilapia w/ roasted grape tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic, and flat leaf parsley that's been tossed in olive oil
Snack: 1 cup 1% milk, 1/3 b. Kellogg's AllBran Buds (13 grams of fiber!)
Total calories: 1914
Carbs: 150.2
Fat: 60.0
Fiber: 29.4
Protein: 217.4 (okay, this is a bit much, even for me!)
Today's weight: 186.5

Wow, yeah that's a bit much in the protein department. If you did that every day you'd have some tired kidneys. 12 lbs in 2 days? Ok, I'm convinced I should do carnation instant breakfast for the next 2 days! I don't think I'm retaining that much water though. Just 2.1 lbs
I am going to put the scale away until Monday I think. I won't even talk about how many times I've weighed myself in the past 2 days.

Yeah, I normally aim for 120-150 grams of protein per day - that seems to be my body's "sweet spot". I'm trying to follow the pouch test rules though, so will be protein-heavy for a couple more days. Then I'm going to ease back in to my normal routine and see what happens. I'd really love to be able to stay focused enough get down to 170-175 and then just maintain until I have plastics!
Girl, you know 12 pounds in 2 days is jus****er weight. I wish I could lose 12 pounds in 2 days whenever I wanted; wouldn't that make life simple???
And I agree that you should put the scale away for a few days, perhaps even a week. The day-to-day weighing can get frustrating when you're so close to a milestone! I look forward to doing the dance of joy for you when I see you twoderville post!!!!
Lots of love coming your way from Cleveland -
Kellie
Hey if your serious i'll do the CIB thing for 2 days with you! I so seriously need to detox the carbs out of my life. I have to admit i'm afraid to because of easter coming I don't like depriving myself. If its any consolation i weighed in 2 lbs lighter today than yesterday and we both know what kind of day i had yesterday so I seriously doubt it was corect!
Let me know if you wanna team up Or if you want we could do the pouch test thing maybe kix wants to redo it we could start Monday? My thing with 5 days is that I'm not sure i'm in the right frame of mind for 5 days and if I fail I just **** myself off and then I it goes down hill.
