GRR, Need to Vent!

Y'all know that I've been looking for work for a couple of months now.  My background is in public health disease intervention. It has been a bit tough finding work in my field here in CO because for some odd reason, the state and county health departments require a nursing license to do the same kind of work I did throughout my career.  It's just a Colorado thing, I guess. Anyway, what do I find in the newspaper yesterday?  An ad for a health department looking for me!  Well, a disease intervention specialist.  Woohoo!  I was pretty stoked, and mentioned to to my sister.  Her response?  "It's far."   WTF?  I've lived here four years, does she think I don't know that it's on the other side of town?  I'd be within spitting distance of PJ, only she's moving to the Springs. How about just a generic "Woohoo!" that it's something in my field, or perhaps just pretend to be interested or enthused.  I guess she gets it from our late mother, who was greatly skilled in raining on people's parades. Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest.  I finished filing my taxes online, so now I can go out and enjoy the bee-yoo-tee-ful weather! Kix

Kix, I know all about those kind of people, I have worked at the same company for 27 years. The woman that has trained me and basically watched me grow up is the same way. After 27 years I've had alot of ups and downs...and she has been thru them all with me, but has always managed to put a downer on "EVERYTHING" I just feel sorry for her, she is just miserable person, and doesn't like seeing anyone else succeed in anything. Shes been "okay" about my weightloss, while all my other coworkers are always praising me. I am sure your sister is not as bad as my coworker, its not possible lol.. You didn't mention if your applying for the job or not.. Get to it girl you deserve it. Good Luck  Lynn

That sister of yours is an odd duck, isn't she? Definitely a 'glass is half empty' kind of gal , isn't she. The fun part will be when you come home with a job!!! Good luck with that job, hope this one works out for you, and while it may be 'far' , it's a great part of town! Big hugs hon

Hi, everyone! Thanks for letting me vent!  I should have mentioned in my earlier message that I fully intend to apply.  I wouldn't pass up such an opportunity!   The application is due next week, and my resume is already done, so I just need to fill out the County's stupid form and then write a cover letter.  How about:  "Dear Health Department.  Hire me, now!  I'm outstanding!  Also, pay me large sums of money to work for you.  Sincerely, Kix." Kix
