I thought it was easy old behaviors creeping back

I have been noticing lately becuase i have had SO MUCH STRESS I am back to saying Ok what can I eat. I try to think healthy like a fruit or veggie. BUT it is getting harder and harder. I have not tried things with too much sugar I don't want to know if i can eat them then what would stop me !!!!! It was so much easier when the weight melting off and me not being able too eat much. Now I can eat 1 1/2 cups depending what it is. I have to get a hold of this NOW.

Hi Pam.....Guess what?  You already have a hold on it by recognizing that the old habit is creeping back rather than justify it or ignore it.  No one ever claimed that WLS was the easy way out (as so many accuse us of)  I know one day I will feel what you are feeling. I hope you will have some good advice for me when I get there. LOL  Many of tried the few days of protein shakes to shrink the pouch back in case it was stretched too much. What about doing that?  You are strong and have so much success behind you...you will make it through this little hurdle. God Bless!  HUGS  Jeanine

Sucks to be feeling like that , I know I just went through it myself actualy I think I go through it everyday,  keep venting when ya need to.   I know I coulda used some brain surgery with my wls think they could do it LAP? lol  your doing great Pam  your an inspiration to many!!  Estelle

Hi, Pam - I can totally relate to where you are coming from.  But you've taken the first and hardest step - you've recognized what's going on!   If you're biggest concern is returning to stress eating, it may be helpful to make a plan about what you're going to do when stres****s that does not involve food.  If you have a very specific plan about how you are going to respond, it makes it simpler to avoid going back to those old behaviors.  The key is to interrupt the non-healthy thought process -- I feel super stressed and food will make me feel better -- with a more healthy thought process/response -- I feel super stressed and ____________ will make me feel better.  What helps is different for each of us -- I sometimes call a friend, take a walk, do some deep breathing, listen to some music, etc.  Think about some things that could work for you and try it.   If your biggest concern is about the fact that you can eat more now, I'd encourage you to use a daily food journal.  This helps you see exactly how many calories you're taking in, and it can help you figure out how much you can eat and either maintain or continue to lose.  For me, having this information is very powerful because I can literally see that when my daily calories go up, my weight goes up.  I know, I know this sounds simplistic, but I was someone who weighed 396 pounds and would have told you that I just didn't eat that much.  So clearly I did not have a realistic idea of how many calories I was consuming.   I hope some of this is helpful.  Again, you've taken the first and hardest step -- recognizing what's going on.  Now, make a plan of attack and stick with it!  Keep us posted on how you're doing -  Kellie

HEY PAM.        BLESS YOUR HEART... I KNOW WE HAVE ALL WENT THRU THE HONEYMOON STAGE OF THE GAME AND IT JUST IS CALLED THAT FOR ONE REASON... DOESNT LAST BUT A HONEYMOON TIME.... IT IS ALWAYS GONNA BE A CHALLENGE FOR SURE... WE FIND OUT AT FIRST WE CANT EAT ALL THAT MUCH AND THEN THE OLE DEMONS GET TO WANTING BACK IN... YOU ARE JUST GOING THRU WHAT WE WILL ALL SEE FROM TIME TO TIME... AND WHAT A WAY TO GET A GRIP ON IT .... BY LETTING OTHERS KNOW YOUR STRUGGLES WE CAN BE THERE FOR YOU AND YOU CAN BE ACCOUNTABLE... IF YOU HAVE NEVER TRYED SUGAR YET PLEASE TRY NOT TO.... I KNOW IT CAN BE THE ROOT OF THE DEVIL FOR SURE... JUST TAKE ACCOUNT OF WHAT YOU ARE EATTING AND FEELING WHEN YOU GET THOSE URGES AND WALK AWAY AND TRY SOMETHING ELSE.. HECK, GET ON HERE AND HOLLER AT US... WE DONT CARE LOL... WE WILL BE THERE FOR YA ALL THE WAY.. I HAVE THOSE FEELINGS EVERYDAY AND HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE OF BAD OR GOOD... WE ALL WILL... THIS WLS SURE DIDNT DO MUCH IN THE OLE BRAIN DEPARTMENT... WE STILL HAVE ALL THE CRAVINGS IN THE HEAD WE ALWAYS HAD... YOU JUST HAVE TO KICK THEM AROUND AND LET THEM KNOW WHOS THE BOSS... AND NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF NOT WEIGHING.... DONT EVER LET THAT GO TO THE WASTE SIDE.... ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU STAND ON THE SCALE... THAT HELPS TO KEEP YA ALERT OF THE SITUATION... REMEMBER NOW... HOLLER !!! HUGS MARGE
