It could be an adjunct of hormonal fluctuations post-op.  Have you talked with your GYN about it? I'm experiencing similar feelings (well, except for the telling your husband "No" part).  I'm just not interested, and I'm not sure I'd be interested if the opportunity presented itself.  My PCP suggested that I'm heading into perimenopause and, along with the weight loss, has made my hormones plummet.   Kix

I haven't talked to any doc about it yet, but I do plan to soon.  I am pretty sure its something to do with crazy post-op hormones, but I would like to have them checked.  It could also be the birth control - I started Nuvaring shortly before surgery because I was worried about absorption of the pill post-op.  Nuvaring is a different hormone than the birth control I was using previously.  Unfortunately unless I want to risk the pill my only other option is a copper IUD, which causes cramps and heavier bleeding, something I am not interested in, especially with mild iron deficiency still.

I love this thread!! 1.  I can actually zip my winter coat up!!  Bought this coat three years ago (the biggest size coat I could find) and I could never zip it up--now there is even a little extra room!

2. I walk faster without getting tired, out of breathe or sweaty.

3. My joints don't hurt all day every day--most days they don't hurt at all!! 4. My tummy is "soft" enough now that I can lift it up and see my "girlie" area--haven't seen that in YEARS!!  LOL  Sorry if that is too much info, but I just realized this yesterday and am a little amazed!! 5. Getting out of the car, off the couch, etc, is MUCH easier.

Hey Maddie, those are some terrific milestones!!  I am not offended by #4...we need to communicate realism.  I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned being able to take care of hygiene ALOT easier than before....C'mon...y'all know its true!    As for #3...I am still hoping for that day. My hips ache terribly when I walk more than 20 minutes. Might be arthritis...not sure. Anyway, thanks for sharing!  HUGS  Jeanine

1.  I can walk my dogs for as long as I like and not have to find some place to sit every 10 minutes or so. 2.  Fit behind the steering wheel of the car without my belly rubbing it (have actually had to move the seat up). 3.  Fit in restaurant booths. 4.  Free from the compulsion to eat, eat, eat. 5.  I can actually find clothes that fit in regular stores. 6.  I just feel better about myself. Highest weight: 366 current weight: 253 Still have a way to go, but feeling SO MUCH BETTER! Shirley

Hi Shirley...I can relate to every single one of yours..I don't have a dog but I compare it to shopping.  Life is truly a challenge for the obese.  Isn't #4 the greatest!  Before it was like food consumed me as much as I consumed it. There is alot of added stress to overeating. I feel as if the craziness of the food compulsion has been replaced by calmness...serenity almost. Does that make sense? I only know it feels so much better!! I'm so happy for your strides!!  HUGS  Jeanine

This is a great thread! It's hard to bring it down to just 5 things but here's mine.... 1. I no longer hate myself every time i look in the mirror. (hell, i look in the mirror now!) 2. I have a lap for my grandson to sit in. 3. I don't hide in my house anymore, afraid to be seen in public. 4. I am not afraid to run on the treadmill at the gym. 5. I'm not sad anymore. I look forward to the future instead of dreading it.

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance. -Lee Iacocca
