Let me introduce myself, my name is Katie & I am 39. I started putting on weight with my first pregnancy & have succesfully continued to pack in on over the last 18 years.. 60 of it in the past 2-3 years...  I was wondering if the recovery is greater with higher BMI's? Or does it even effect it..  I am in the final 2 weeks of my 3 month dr supervised weight loss program. My last appt will be Mar 12th then we will submit it to the insurance company & cross my fingers! I am really worried about the recovery time. I work in a customer service call center. which means I am tied to my deks for my 10 hour shift, just 2 breaks & 1 lunch... not a flexible enviroment at all... & we are always back to back stressful calls.  I guess I am worried that If I go back after a week, I will have bouts of not feeling well, or feeling sick, have to go to the potty etc.... Am I over thinking this? I read some posts where people leave the hospital like 2 hours after surgery & that scares me too... Its just me & my 18 yr old daughter here. And although I have some fantastic friends that I know would do their best to come help me, I dont want others to have to take off work to baby me...LOL  Anyway, just looking for thoughts from those that have been there or are going thru the same things.. I am happy to be a part of this community & glad it is here for support! Hugs to all

Hi Katie,  Welcome to you! I had Lap RNY and was back to work a week and a half later. Best wishes to you.

Lap band recovery is generally faster, and it just depends person to person on how long it takes to feel well, at whatever size.  You may be tired for a while, but I wouldn't anticipate that you'll have a very hard time since you will at least be sitting down.  Make sure you stay hydrated!
